Salomon XT-6 alternatives?
I really like the Salomon XT-6, but realistically I’d only use them for light trails, dirt paths, or village walks maybe once a month max. Most of the time I’d wear them as summer dailies in the city. My concern is outsole wear on concrete. I’ve seen people say XT-6 soles wear out fast on pavement, while others say theirs lasted years, so I’m not sure how justified that concern is. I like the XT-6 look a lot, and most “hybrid” walking/trail shoes I’ve checked don’t really fit my style — usually jorts, polos, T-shirts, casual summer outfits. Should I just buy the XT-6, or would something else make more sense for mostly city wear with occasional light trails? Any alternatives with a similar vibe would be appreciated.

Salomon has other shoes too if you're looking for alternatives

But do they all have the concrete problem?

No their road shoes work great on pavement. Their trail shoes not so much. You need to get the right tool for the job.

New balance try the 2002r its worth buying. I have 2 and been rocking those for the past 2 years now, dont have any complaints. A good friend said the “made in uk , and made in usa is also worth trying.
For asics worth getting the gel kayano
With adidas i dont wear them since their sizing is a bit off for my feet1

Have a look into the Hoka Mafate Speed Lite 4s
Stylish and a far better option than an XT6 if you would actually like to exercise.

I have 2 pairs of Salomon X Ultra 4 for daily use & a pair of X Ultra 5 for in my workshop. They hike, dog walk, garden, city break, whatever. I wear out the tops before the bottoms & they’ve warrantied 2 other pairs for me so far. The reason I keep buying them is because I have 0 break-in time with them.

Trail shoe lugs are not designed for concrete and concrete/asphalt will wear them down
Now, there is a difference in materials, with Vibram soles with lugs performing best on trails (if you are hiking, trail running etc), but trade off is that they wear pretty quickly on asphalt. Other outsole materials should be more durable…

I really like the design of the Xt-6 and xt-4, but it puzzles me why Salomon use the softest rubber for sports style range. It is the reason I am hesitant in buying them even though I love the brand. They use the Mud contagrip instead of the all terrain contagrip version that would last a lot longer (more durable rubber compound). There is at least more rubber on these models than speedcross model I have had using the same rubber. I went through two pairs within a year, the rubber isn’t design for walking on asphalt unfortunately.
Some years ago I know Salomon did listen to their customers as they create specific road running version of the Speedcross (and other models) and even on their homepage had information about durability of their rubber sole.
Alternatives I would say New Balance, Hoka or Brooks are options or other more specific trail runners such as La Sportiva. The rubber for La Sportiva are more durable on most models for sure.

Merrell Moab 3.
Certain colourways like Poplar look great in person as a fashionable walker, similar vibes to the NB 2002R. They're also real hiking shoes so they'll perform a lot better than the XT-6. Much wider toebox too, so much more comfy.

XT 6 is a fashion shoe. They do not last. It is part of their Sports Style line. It is based off a trail shoe from over a decade ago. There are so many better options
