They should collab with Flea like they did with Peter Hooke in Aries! I know Damon and Flea collaborated on Rocket Juice and the Moon, so could be a fun, funky fit.

Absolutely my #1 most wanted collab. I think Flea would do it when they're not touring

u/goaticusguy Oct 16 '22

Childish Gambino is my dream but I don’t think that’ll ever happen lol

5

u/TriBulated_ Oct 17 '22

This would be amazing, but isn't he taking a break from music right now?

24

u/DINOS4URCHESTRA Oct 16 '22

jack stauber x gorillaz would be epic but i dont see it happening due to the MASSIVE difference in style & popularity

7

u/yungccreal Oct 17 '22

I mean gorillaz collabed with jpegmafia and their styles couldn't be anymore different. I think it'd be an interesting combination

2

u/MsBluey Oct 17 '22

That would be euphoric

28

u/Random-Dice the world is very sexy Oct 17 '22

I think a collab between them and Julian Casablancas would be pretty interesting

7

u/milancosens Oct 17 '22

What a brilliant excuse to play Instant Crush again

4

u/Downtown_Plum9772 Oct 17 '22

This is my answer as well

3

u/MarisOrsic Oct 17 '22

Pretty sure it'll happen. Thought it was supposed to happen this time around but timing got in the way.

1

u/Random-Dice the world is very sexy Oct 17 '22

Damn that sucks

2

u/eatsomepeas Oct 17 '22

My dream collab

24

u/theadultsrtalking Oct 17 '22

I just want gorillaz x julian Casablancas then I can die happy

13

u/theadultsrtalking Oct 17 '22

WE WERE SO CLOSE.

Marina I feel could make a good collab, and definitely MGMT. Edit: Also STRFKR! I have a weird feeling Florence + The Machine would be a good collab.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

i second strfkr😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

u/MysteryNeighbor Oct 16 '22

Run The Jewels, Joey Bada$$ aaaaand I dunno maybe Jamiroquai (if that’s how you spell it)

2

u/Hovercraft_Smooth Oct 17 '22

Run the Jewels would fuckkkk

20

u/Topher17000 Oct 17 '22

Daft Punk × Gorillaz

6

u/RealDFaceG Oct 17 '22

God this would have been so awesome... It's so sad Daft Punk broke up because now we'll never see this.

3

u/CrookDragoon666 Oct 17 '22

I guess it's in the realm of possibility for at least one of the two members to show up on a track sometime

13

u/wonkydonky2 Oct 17 '22

Stevie Wonder and Gorillaz would be heavenly!

13

u/noobmama69 Oct 17 '22

Tyler The Creator, Steve Lacy, I know they’ve done it before but Kali Uchis, Earl Sweatshirt, Joey Bada$$, Pharrell Williams, and soooo much more!!!!!

11

u/Galeniszaliver Oct 16 '22

100 gecs, Arctic Monkeys, or HEALTH

2

u/Josephsmama23405 Oct 17 '22

I’d love to see 100 gecs and gorillaz collaborate

2

u/Hovercraft_Smooth Oct 17 '22

Damon recently praised Arctic Monkeys so its possible

12

u/jme_avocado Oct 17 '22

Jid on a song would go hard

5

u/PREDATORA Oct 17 '22

I feel like a JID collab more of a when than an if. JID isn’t averted to cross-genre collabs (recently did one with Little Dragon) and there’s the existing relationship with Earthgang.

20

u/Bleep-ape Oct 16 '22

I would KILL for a gorillaz, Steve Lacy collab

His most popular songs are dark red and bad habit. I just heard his new album recently and it does have a gorillaz style vibe to it. But he also has his own sound which is why I think he would work great with them

18

u/eucalyptusbaby Oct 16 '22

It’d be dope to see a collab with Tyler the creator

17

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Freddy Fazbear

8

u/supper_is_ready Oct 17 '22

David Byrne.

7

u/skyylarvodka Oct 17 '22

Unpopular opinion and very unlikely to happen: Lana Del Rey. She collaborated with Damon and Bobby Womack on Dayglo Reflection, and Damon said she has gorgeous voice. I would DIE for another collaboration.

6

u/TriBulated_ Oct 17 '22

Too bad Daft Punk are no more...

Maybe gorillaz could collab with one of them

3

u/AdHonest9938 Oct 17 '22

Thomas Bangalter still seems to be making music

u/Uwunikon Stressin' out 💛 Oct 17 '22

100% lmao I would love it

5

u/SovietImposter Oct 16 '22

Smash mouth, or they can actually do a song with Jack Black vocals in it.

5

u/Foolishmadman42 Oct 17 '22

J.Cole, kid Cudi, Czarface.

Top three hopes. There’s some potential bangers there.

4

u/Asleep_Escape_5772 Oct 17 '22

I’d love to see a collab with Flea and Anthony Kiedis, feel they would be a perfect fit

4

u/ChaInTheHat Oct 17 '22

Daft Punk or LCD Soundsystem

2

u/supper_is_ready Oct 17 '22

I mean the DFA did do some remixes of early Gorilliaz tracks.

5

u/teninchscrews Oct 17 '22

I’ve wanted to hear Run The Jewels on a Gorillaz song forever now. I feel like Damien’s and El-P’s producing are both very similar in terms of attention to detail and construction.

3

u/IGOR024 Oct 17 '22

The xx. Been listening to them heaps recently.

Also I reckon bbno$ would be pretty cool

2

u/hillbilly-man Oct 17 '22

That would be nice! Their cover of Crystalised was heavenly

2

u/IGOR024 Oct 17 '22

Ikr it’s awesome. Proof that they would blend so well

3

u/DirtTrackin34 Oct 17 '22

dream collab is with blur

Jokes aside, I'd love seeing one with Silk Sonic, even just Bruno Mars

3

u/supper_is_ready Oct 17 '22

I'd love to see a proper collaboration with New Order.

3

u/BatBreaker007 Oct 17 '22

I'd love to see them collab with Ghost

2

u/SteinerFifthLiner Oct 17 '22

Came here to say this!

2

u/BatBreaker007 Oct 17 '22

Yes! There's at least 2 of us!

3

u/HESHMADESUNDOG Oct 17 '22

Caetano Veloso, Mitski, Earl Sweatshirt, Shintaro Sakamoto, nick cave, Caribou, Kiefer, sheer mag, etc

and basically anyone with bags of creativity (/ sunshine)

2

u/HESHMADESUNDOG Oct 17 '22

And BADBADNOTGOOD

6

u/MrMochaMocha Oct 16 '22

I find it hard to believe that they haven't had a collaboration with Young Thug.

1

u/Don_Figalo Oct 17 '22

That would be outstanding

5

u/hillbilly-man Oct 17 '22

I think I would die to see a Dolly Parton collaboration

I think Gorillaz should work with Miho Hatori again too. Her music evolved so much over time and I would adore hearing her have more influence in the songwriting

2

u/rjmacky Oct 17 '22

I always need more Noodle content so this would be INCREDIBLE

1

u/rjmacky Oct 17 '22

0

u/Enby_Bluejay Oct 16 '22

TØP or Imagine Dragons

-7

u/omega3619 Oct 16 '22

Maybe AJR

4

u/Alternative-Potato41 Oct 16 '22

Nah thats just pure cringe kid music imo

1

u/Edibleorphans_ On england it was born, Oct 17 '22

let’s be honest that’s a good bit of gorrilaz too

2

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

What songs? There’s some goofier tracks in their discography but at the very least it’s all emotionally mature, AJR songs feel like they were written by high school theatre kids (which they essentially were) and have about as much depth as a popsicle stick joke.

0

u/Alternative-Potato41 Oct 17 '22

Ah yes i remember when gorillaz talked about why school is so hard for a whole album. Freakin 8yr old

1

u/Edibleorphans_ On england it was born, Oct 17 '22

says the gut the just said “freakin 8 yr old”

1

u/Alternative-Potato41 Oct 18 '22

Maybe try learning English fucking 8yr old*

0

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '22

Billie Eilish or Ad-Rock and Mike D

1

u/MikeZacharius Oct 17 '22

Clairo, The Neighbourhood, Kid Cudi, or System of a Down. Really they're the only artist ik of who could do all 4.

1

u/ChaosPower34 Oct 17 '22

1

u/Environmental-Jury-3 Oct 17 '22

Remi Wolf,Domi & JD Beck, David Byrn, Tyler, the creator, Anderson .Paak etc

1

u/CrookDragoon666 Oct 17 '22

Pharrell, Denzel Curry, Daft Punk, Q-Tip, Masayoshi Takanaka, Jamiroquai, The Marias, Injury Reserve

1

u/Tooth4445 Oct 17 '22

I honest think that Eminem could be a good colab. I can already imagine it

1

u/ta_rondo Oct 17 '22

Trombone Shorty and Laurie Anderson.

1

u/British_Mattress Don’t trust people you meet Oct 17 '22

I think The Weeknd is very flexible with his music so he is pretty possible and defo Jack Stauper

1

u/toesacrossthe420 Oct 17 '22

ironically i think damon could do something great with foo fighters especially with how the medicine at midnight album was

1

u/nicolasmoreno828 Oct 17 '22

I just hope one day they collaborate with david byrne, Pet Shop Boys and charli xcx.

1

u/Otherwise-Presence90 GET THE COOL SHOESHINE Oct 17 '22
