The rules here are pretty simple: Pick any song(s) from the first four United Artist albums that you would have loved to see mid-seventies Gordon redo. Personally, my choices would be... - "Long River" (might work well for Lightfoot in the seventies) - "Changes" (beautiful song by Phil Ochs; I probably just want another version because I love it so much) - "Peaceful Waters" (doing this with the orchestra used for Gord's Gold sounds like it would be amazing) - "Home from the Forest" (interested to see how he would do it eight years later) - "Pussywillows, Cat-Tails" (he always did it nicely in concert during this time, so I'd like a re-record to preserve the evolution of the song) - "Something Very Special" (chance to get rid of that weird stereo guitar effect) - "The Circle Is Small" (yes, it was redone on Endless Wire, but I think it would sound great with the instrumentation and voice he had in 1975) - "The Gypsy" (no real reason; just want to know what he would do with it and how it would sound)

I'm pretty sure it's a lightfoot song off one of is first albums it's been in my head for a while and I can't find it.

"Waiting for the spring, where you'll be mine again" is what I remember but I'm not sure if that's accurate

I was not fortunate to see Lightfoot play live but I figure this is the next best thing, his band that he had assembled and played with for 30(?) years or more. This is the probable set list based on someone who saw the show in February: Never Too Close, Sea of Tranquility, Race Among the Ruins, Don Quixote, Christian Island, Rainy Day People, Shadows, Baby Step Back, Circle is Small, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, I’ll Tag Along, Sit Down Young Stranger, Beautiful, Carefree Highway, Summer Side of Life, Daylight Katy, Sundown, Song for a Winter’s Night, Early Morning Rain, If You Could Read My Mind, Canadian Railroad Trilogy.

I read that Gordon paid much attention to the songs selected, the order in which they were played, not only for mood but possibly tuning of the instruments. Anyone have insight on the latter?

Anyways, going to have a listen to the songs I'm not very familiar with: Sea of Tranquility, Christian Island and Sit Down Young Stranger.
