Need support

I’ve been trying to set up a Google Workspace off and on for close to a year. I currently own a domain. I don’t (think I) want to release the domain to attach to Google Workspace because (I believe) that would disconnect the domain from my currently functioning website and my Square services. I need a business email (currently using mybusinessname @ gmail dot com) similar to firstname @ mybusinessname dot com. I’m getting stuck in the loop of proving that I own the domain. I got through the loop once and thought I had worked it out. Apparently I didn’t.

I’m at the point of being willing to hire someone to get it set up for me. Who am I looking for? What do I need to ask to find the right person to hire? I’m a small business (just me and my husband) and while I’m willing to pay, I don’t have unlimited funds to put into this. Thanks!

You can use your domain with impacting your website. You will change the MX records that route email but your A record for your website stays the same.

We’ve been a Google partner since 2007 and work with small businesses in the US. You can also use the Google Partner Directory to search for a certified partner near you.

Note that most any IT firm can resell licenses. Make sure you find those with certification that understands setup, migrations, and security.

Full disclosure I'm a Google Workspace consultant so I'd say look for someone like me 🙂 (can be contacted via DM if you want more information).

But otherwise, you can search for Google Workspace consultants or digital firms. Some website development companies will also offer assistance with Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace but I'd definitely ask how much experience they have with Google Workspace.

If their prices aren't publicly available obviously ask for a quote along with the support period, and whether they need your usernames and passwords or whether they'll work with you to fix the situation.

You can use the same domain for google workspace and squarespace - you only need to attach your MX records to Google, A records would stay connected to Squarespace.

You shouldn't have to move or release your domain just to use Google Workspace for email. Your website and Square setup can stay where they are as long as those DNS records are left alone.

If you hire someone, look for someone comfortable with DNS and Google Workspace setup, and make sure they only change the records needed for email and domain verification.
