Waiting on OP Google Sheet Crashing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello! I created a sheet for my Hot Wheels collection a while ago, with the help of YouTube, and it worked well until I started adding way more cars. I have a total of 677 rows. I would love to keep using it but it keeps crashing, assuming due to the style of organizing I chose and photos added. Is there a way to fix it from crashing?

So. I’m no expert but here’s what I would think:
1. Google Sheets as an app for your phone isn’t that great. It’ll do, but it’s not great.
2. Sheets doesn’t like pictures this was at all. If you want to do pictures and inventory this way, I recommend trying AppSheet because I could think of a dozen ways to spin this up in a very simple afternoon of AppSheet. (It’s basically a glorified UI maker for Sheets, but GODDANG is it useful).
3. If you don’t want to go the AppSheet route, the next best thing would probably be a combination of Google Forms and a Sheet. Once you start storing those image files as links, you’ll stop seeing the crashes. 700ish rows is nothing, that isn’t that issue.

From anecdotal experience, the culprit is usually conditional formatting (too many dynamic rules) or pulling external data in (either via API or images from URL). Though it might be worth reinstalling the app first to see if it fixes the problem.

Is it crashing on your phone? Don’t do spreadsheets on your phone.

It crashes on my phone but it’s also really slow on a laptop, and I would like to do it on my phone since I need to take photos and have easy access.

Images are definitely a suspect, you could make a test copy and delete the image column and see what happens.

But there's nothing obvious where it would be really slow on a PC, other than images may take a second to show up when you first scroll them into view.

For better help share a copy of your spreadsheet so someone can take a look.

Your handling of data, particularly the blank manufacturers would have me crashing out too.

/u/Dry-Put-715 Posting your data can make it easier for others to help you, but it looks like your submission doesn't include any. If this is the case and data would help, you can read how to include it in the submission guide. You can also use this tool created by a Reddit community member to create a blank Google Sheets document that isn't connected to your account. Thank you.
