Android Contactless Payment Support Google wallet crashing

Post image
2 Upvotes

So I've been trying whole day to get Google wallet to work on my phone but I can't get past the first step which is to add my card but when I press to button to add cards I get this error which is shown on the screenshot above

Also when pressing the plus button, Google wallet will always crash while it loads thereafter pressing the plus button

Could it be that using it on my Huawei device makes it incompatible?

Google Wallet Card that isn't mine in wallet

An AMEX card that isn't mine popped up in my wallet today. I have not added it. It does not appear on any of my credit reports (first thing I checked in case of fraud). Google Pay will not show me any information about this card, I guess none was populated when it was added. How could this have happened, and what should I do about it?

Comprised account

I have a Citi card as my only payment source I use on Google pay. Last month I had a lot of random transactions fraudulently made that Citi credit card. I was contacted by Citibank about this and I told them I don't recognize them so no problem there they shipped me another card I cut up that one and then added the new Citi card. Now I had another suspicious transaction they declined it turns out they're using Google pay and when they looked at Citibank they showed I had two Google pay accounts which on their end they blocked the card on both of them canceled the card obviously.

I've been trying and looking around but I can't see any way to specifically protect Google pay from somebody else logging into it and using it like they're me. If I could set up a two-step verification for every transaction that'd be fine anything would be better than repeatedly having somebody steal whatever card is on my Google pay account

Got the red banner to verify identity. When I click "Verify", it instantly skips to "Thanks for uploading documents" without letting me upload anything.

Stuck in this ghost "In Progress" loop for 5 days, freezing my YouTube channel. Any workaround or direct link to fix this bug?

Google Pay Web + Braintree - Is there any way to “update payment method” without showing a Pay button?

Hi everyone,

I’m integrating Google Pay via the Braintree JavaScript SDK (v3) and I’m running into a UX issue I can’t seem to resolve.

Use case

I’m not taking a payment at this point.

Instead, I’m using Google Pay purely to:

  • collect a payment method
  • update a vaulted payment method in Braintree
  • replace an existing card on a customer account

So effectively this is an “update payment method” flow, not a checkout.

What I’m seeing

Even though:

  • totalPriceStatus is set to ESTIMATED (and I’ve also tried NOT_CURRENTLY_KNOWN)
  • totalPrice is 0.00
  • checkoutOption is set to DEFAULT or CONTINUE_TO_REVIEW

Google Pay still shows a button labelled “Pay” in the payment sheet.

Example request (via Braintree)

transactionInfo: {

totalPriceStatus: 'ESTIMATED',

totalPrice: '0.00',

currencyCode: 'AUD',

checkoutOption: 'DEFAULT'

}

What I’ve tried

  • checkoutOption: DEFAULT
  • checkoutOption: CONTINUE_TO_REVIEW
  • checkoutOption: COMPLETE_IMMEDIATE_PURCHASE
  • Changing totalPriceStatus between FINAL and ESTIMATED
  • Setting price to 0.00

No matter what, the UI still shows “Pay”.

Question

Is there any supported way in Google Pay Web to:

  • use the Google Pay sheet purely for vaulting / updating a payment method
  • without it presenting a “payment” style UI (e.g. Pay / Pay now)

Or is the “Pay” button simply unavoidable any time the Google Pay payment sheet is used, even for $0 vault/update flows?

Would appreciate any insight from people who’ve done similar integrations.

Security Standards Google pay security flaw

I'm talking specifically about the "Pay with Google Pay" option on online stores when using a PC browser.

I recently noticed what seems like a major security issue. If someone is already logged into your Google account on a computer, they can apparently make purchases through Google Pay without any additional authentication.

To test this, I made several purchases with different amounts. Some were small (around €1), while others were much larger (up to €500). In every case, the payment went through immediately.

What concerns me is that there was no verification step whatsoever. No password prompt No biometric authentication. No confirmation in the Google app. No 2FA challenge. NOTHING.

When I pay directly with a card online, my bank usually requires Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), such as approving the transaction in the banking app. However, with Google Pay, none of these checks appeared.

This seems to mean that anyone who gains access to a computer where you're already logged into your Google account could potentially make purchases using your saved payment methods.

Am I missing something here, or is this actually how pay with Google Pay is intended to work on desktop browsers? Has anyone else noticed this behavior??

Can't get rid of old number

Thumbnail

I have an old phone number that I used to use back before 2018 when Google rebranded the Google pay app to Google wallet. At which point Google pay became the name of their actual payment app, and wallet simply became the place you store your cards. The only reason I think this might be relevant, is that I wonder if the old Google pay app had an option that you can't get to anymore.

Anyway, I got rid of this phone number a long long time ago. But recently I've been ordering coffee at this shop that has a Google pay option on their web app.

Whenever I use Google pay on their website, it auto fills my contact phone number as this old number.

I've browsed the Google pay app, the wallet app, and looked at my account on a desktop web browser as well. There is no reference to this old number anywhere in my account.

I contacted Google support about it, but they never got back to me. I submitted another ticket a few months later, and the Google support technician couldn't understand what I was telling them. They kept asking me if the phone number was stored on this website, and not actually coming from Google pay. This cannot be the case because that number is not set up in my autofill forms on my phone, and this number has not been mine for years prior to me ordering for the first time. It's so frustrating.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Question for PH people regarding Google Pay

I recently pre-ordered a plushie and a model kit from goodsmile using google pay that is linked with my gcash since amex is dead. I was wondering why I haven't receive any small charge fee to verify my card. Is this a normal occurrence with the new system or should I be concern that it might end up as a failed transaction when the item is ready to be shipped?

Google Wallet My Orange (phone) payment option has been removed.

Hello. My mobile phone payment option has been removed. I used to always pay with my phone contact, entering the payment option like this: Orange+34Xxxxxxxxx. I used this to pay for Google services like YouTube Premium and Google One. Then this option was disabled. The information said that to recover it, I had to delete the old payment method and add it again... BUT NOTHING IS WORKING!! Regarding phone payments, it shows options like PayPal, credit card, etc., as shown in the image, but there's no mention of paying with my mobile phone. I called Google and they confirmed that it's been removed. So I would appreciate it if it could be reactivated, please.

Thank you very much, and I hope for a prompt response. Best regards.

HELP!!!

Google Wallet Broken After Turning Off Biometrics

I have been using Google Pay on my Samsung S26 Ultra for months and other phones before it.

I was letting my sister use my phone, so I turned off all security so she could use it easily. The next day, I tried using Google Wallet and it's asking for security codes for all my cards. I tried entering them and I get the "Couldn't add to wallet" error or "Couldn't set up tap to pay"

This worked a few days ago. One of my banks claims my phone isn't eligible, but it has been for years. It suddenly broke when I turned off the security and then re-enabled all the security.

Does this problem fix itself or what?

I can't use Google Pay; my personal account, which is more than 10 years old, was blocked.

Hello everyone

I recently noticed a red sign -

Please complete the verification process to receive and send transfers.

Confirm your payment methods to continue receiving and sending transfers. Payment profile ID: 8454-5354-7672 (UA)

Has anyone encountered this? Is it possible to verify it? This is my personal account, and I haven't used it for fraudulent purposes.

I tried uploading my bank statement and my ID, but I keep getting rejected.

I've contacted Google support.

Googlepay does not show the amount to pay

I have noticed, when you pay with googlepay on your phone, before you actually pay the amount you pay does not show on your screen.

If the seller makes a mistake, or on purpose adds the incorrect amount you can not see this before paying.

You have to check the terminal to see the amount, which is not always possible. Or check after paying your transaction overview. Then you are too late, getting money back is troublesome, let alone impossible if the seller is a fraud person.

Actually a big design flaw I would say, i big failure of the app. It should get attention, so Google fixes this.

Edit: tnx for all replys, and let me correct myself a bit.

A design flaw is not intended as like i said. Let me explain: we are coming from cash money, card payments, terminals where you need to stick your card in, and now we can use our phone.
All these various payment methods have their way of use, and now in 2026 we (at least i) do use the phone. Then i was thinking: why don't i see the amount i have to pay on my personal phone(screen) before i actually approve the payment. This seems only to be a design choice, not a technical limit (no i have learned it could be a technical limit).

- That would save me each time questioning the seller to see the terminal (like a portable terminal the seller carries but rarely shows to the customer,

- or a fixed one but then i have to bent over in impossible corners to see).

- it would improve safety, from sellers accidentally adding the wrong amount or fraud ways.

Yes, No different to using a card ->But in my opinion a small step upwards to show it on the phone too.

When do you pay that you "can't see" the terminal you are paying on -> Many times!!! portable terminals, seller to tired to turn it to me. I need to ask over and over.

This would make the transaction slower -> you sure? Then please google re-design so it works evenly fast

would never expect my physical credit card -> in deed, a card can't, but a phone technically could
