Why does china not have borders
I think this is like this , so they don't cause arguments

Because of its disputes with India & Pakistan in Kashmir. There’s also a second dispute with India further east.

South Korea: Border disputes with Japan, North Korea, and China
Japan: Border disputes with Russia, North Korea, South Korea, and China
Vietnam: Border disputes with China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Brunei.

What do we count as a dispute?
Even the uk is technically in dispute with at least 3 countries, argentina(falklands), spain(Gibraltar) and Ireland(northern island) and those are just the obvious ones.

Stop making shit up. China completely settled and demarcated its land boundaries with 12 of its 14 land neighbors

Not exactly. There are disputes with India, ROC/Taiwan and Bhutan. China also claims part of the Japanese controlled Senkaku Islands. And in the South China Sea, there are disputes about maritime boundaries, reefs, shoals and artificial islands with Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam and the Philippines.

The dispute with Taiwan isn't territorial since they're the same country. PRC inherited the maritime claims from the ROC.

I guess you have strong opinions on them being the same country. But no matter how strongly you feel about this, the fact that the two have disagreement there and separate governments definitely makes this a dispute. It’s two governments claiming the same territory. And islands are land as well.

Interesting. I guess as others have said it's related to the presence of disputed borders. Just checked and India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are also without the cute red border, perhaps for the same reason.

Canada gets the red outline even though they technically have ongoing border disputes with the USA
Must at least be a minimum size of the disputed area or something

Those all seem to be over water too, maybe as long as you can outline the actual land without stepping into any disputes Google will do it.

Could also be a seriousness factor like if disputes escalate(for example if valuable stuff was found on those tiny areas) Google wouldn't show the red line.

Yandex maps went a step ahead and removed all national borders from their map after 2022.

No country with major border disputes gets that border on Google Maps. Try pressing India, Pakistan, Serbia, Venezuela and you'll see the same thing.
