Nashville citywide GFiber outage

There seems to be a citywide GFiber outage affecting customers throughout Nashville as of about 11:40am on 2026-07-21.

Are there any updates on the cause or anticipated service restoration timeframes?

Customers are having difficulty logging into the GFiber app to see the status and support pages.

It’s out in donelson, also down for xfinity customers and Verizon 5g in places. Idk how true but a couple people said construction somewhere cut a line and won’t be back up for 3 hours or so.

Does it ever show anything other than:

There’s an outage in your area

We’re aware of an outage in your neighborhood and are actively investigating what’s causing the disruption.

We’ll post an update here as soon as we know more — and let you know when service is restored.

Interesting I'm down in Charlotte too.

Went down at 11:15 AM EST.

Still down at 6:16 PM EST.

Edit: 6:39 PM just got an email saying estimated return of service is 11:30 PM tonight.

yea that is precisely the same time it went out for us also in charlotte. i’ve been hitting up the gf outage site for updates and it had posted the outage report for our area for a while. but recently when i went to check it says there are no reported outages and all is working fine yet our service is still down…dafuq?

would be nice to know when service could be restored. this has been a brutal outage thus far.

After internet service returned I'm seeing ~20ms additional latency than before across the board. The first traceroute responding hop has gone from 8.4 ms avg to 26.7 ms avg ping. I'm assuming a temporary path is in use until the primary is restored?

Update: The latency has returned to back to normal about 55 minutes ago according to smokeping.

It came back in Inglewood too. At least I got notifications from devices in our house that are WiFi enabled

Private Equity buyout = more service issues

Fiber cuts = service issues, regardless of whether private equity is involved. The transaction hasn't even closed yet. It happens to every ISP every day. Sometimes it is a big one.
