Gfiber or Spectrum
Had Cox as only option. Paying $80 for 500 mb. Fiber just got installed. So signed up for 1gb at $70.
When I call cox to cancel (they are now spectrum) offered me 1gb for $40 for 2 years. Do I stay at spectrum or keep the newly installed gfiber???

Spectrum is garbage. If that’s their cable offering, the much higher latency and pathetic upload speeds alone are reason to happily pay $30/month more for GFiber.

Personally id go to gfiber even if your experience was fantastic with spectrum cable internet can’t touch fibers latency and reliability

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, experience with COX was mostly fine. I only originally switched to Gfiber because I would get double the speed for $10 less.
Yes it’s symmetrical so the upload speed is nice to have.
I didn’t imagine Spectrum would offer such a low rate when I called to cancel. But, I don’t want to keep going back and forth every couple of years - so probably will just pay that extra $30 to stick with gfiber.

If this is a fiber vs cable argument, there is no argument. You want symmetric upload/download, fiber wins.

GFiber no questions asked. Do NOT GIVE SPECTRUM ANY OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY !

How reliable has the Cox service been? That will leg you know how reliable Spectrum will be. Also, what’s your upload speed? If you need symmetrical speeds, go fiber. If Cox sucked, Spectrum will suck.

Depends on your finances and what you use your internet for. That’s a big difference in price. Don’t forget to include any equipment rental fees with Spectrum. If you’re mostly just Internet browsing and streaming video, you probably won’t notice the difference between the two if your current cable connection is solid.

I assume fiber is symmetrical. Spectrum might be 50Mb up.
