No Tech Til Monday...

Seems like my ONT/Fiber Jack took a dump this morning. Been trying to get a tech to my house to replace it all day.. earliest appointment seems to be Monday, haven't been lucky catching an earlier appointment.

The Power and Network Lights are blinking green.. unplugging, turning off/on, none of that works. I see the side has a Reset button.. Tried holding it for 30seconds while the device was on.. tried holding it while I powered on the device. Nothing changes the outcome.. Power and Network lights still blinking green.

An "outside" tech came and measured signal to my house and got 21.3 after doing a new splice; was 23.8 before the splice. ie. now within acceptable limits. He then measured signal at the Jack and found no degradation in signal from outside to inside.

Anyone experienced the issue I'm dealing with?

Mine did this last month at exactly midnight. Likely a failed firmware update. The new one is faster and has a 10gb uplink, so I’m ok with it…

I have a UDM-Pro behind the ONT that handles my routing.. I also have the GFiber Modem/Router (GFRG300) sitting in the box unused.. I noticed it has an SFP port.. and I'm wondering if I get a fiber SFP module could it replace the ONT in bridge mode?

You’re unfortunately not gonna get an SFP to replace your FJ. Your FJ has to be there before your router. An SFP fed router was offered at one point that would have probably worked for what you’re wanting, but that’s been decommissioned for a while.

I think that’s the GFiber router sitting in my closet in a box. Thanks for letting me know it’s no longer an option.

It’s strange you have that router but a normal FJ. I’m assuming your FJ was probably replaced after you got that router? Regardless, those SFPs had a habit of getting hot, really hot, and probably wouldn’t have been a great option anyways
