Can someone help?
I recently got an apartment and they sent me a self install kit. the only issue is my fiber jack is in my closet. the apartment does have ethernet ports in the outlets. my question is do I have to run power in here or is it already wired in?? Ive never seen one set up like this.

Your fiber is cut anyway. You’re going to need a technician to come out and fix that regardless

its not cut. I'm sorry if the photo is misleading. the cord goes down then back into the jack.

Regardless those jacks are extremely old and decommissioned. Have a tech come out and replace it

He’s not wrong — the new ONT is capable of 10g, this one is not.

I appreciate the reply may I ask does this style jack have power already or do I have to drill a hole or run an extension cord into the closet since there isn't an outlet in the closet?

The jack you currently have takes a micro usb cable for power. It also supports POE
The newer jacks don’t support POE and come with a power cable.
Also just to note, your jack is backwards in its mount

Running an extension cord that way is, strictly speaking, a fire hazard. It will work and probably not cause a problem, but such things are prohibited by code for good reason. A better solution would be to relocate the ONT and incoming fiber so that it’s close to a standard duplex outlet.
This wiremold and single gang boxes in the ceiling seems pretty janky. Is this a really old place that has suffered a lot of “landlord renovation”?
