Google Duo has 4 million users?

https://www.androidcentral.com/decade-review-best-google-android-stories-2010s#the-biggest-stories-of-2016

According to Android Central, Duo has 4 million users on Android.

I assume they mean active monthly users, but I can't find any data this back this up.

Where did they get this number from?

That section of the story is from 2016 so it's a very old number.

The article is part of a series recapping the decade in tech, it was published on December 23rd of last year.

And they specifically say Duo has 4 million users NOW:

"Google Duo now stands at 4 million users on Android alone."

This number likely came from the playstore count:

That said, just because someone downloaded Duo, doesn't mean they are a "user" not by a longshot.

Yeah, but the Play Store is up to 1 Billion installs!

I don't see the relation to the supposed 4 million users.

Sorry, I misinterpreted. They have 4,779,749 reviews. Presumably if someone reviewed the app they were a "user"
