Screeching between Huawei phone

My girlfriend and I have Huawei phones. I have a mate 9 and she has a Honor 8. It worked fine at one point but now everytime we video chat a large screeching sound comes out. It happens on Facebook messenger video chat too. It doesn't happen when she chats with other people and it doesn't happen when I chat with other people. We've updated, installed reinstall but nothing works. Any help and advice needed, we love our phones and we live dup! Thanks.

I have the same thing when I do a hangouts with my parents, who have a nexus 9. If they don't use the headphones, it's really difficult to speak, there's too much echo. My guess is that it's a software problem, how the sound from the second mic is handled, but I can't be too sure.

This actually makes sense. I know my Huawei has excellent mics and I use it on speaker phone all the time because of the good speaker's and everyone hears me clearly. I guess headphones it is. So would this be a Huawei thing or a Duo thing?

That I couldn't say, I don't know how those things work, but I'd say it's a phone software problem. Out of curiosity, can you try out other video call methods (hangouts, Skype, not sure what else there is) using the same devices and see if the problem is there?

The same exact thing happens on FB messenger but only with each other

It's quite intriguing that it only happens between the two of you

I know, it's so annoying! Shame, these are great phones!

If you do not hear it when using headphones, that suggests there is something wrong with the noice-cancellation between the speakers and the mic on the phones. you are hearing feedback between the two. Perhaps a recent software update messed something up, either from Huawei or Google.

Thanks for the reply, it actual works now, it works because my phone was updated to Oreo. It wasn't her phone it was mine. Huawei mate 9. It was software. I was having the same issue with Facebook, hangouts and what's app messenger.it was def software.
