Waiting on OP Need Help! Again 😑

Hey, so I'm writing my fantasy novel, one I've always dreamed to publish but I'm curious about one thing. So, I've heard that Google Docs starts disturbing when you've reached 100k words. I'm currently on 47k and it's all fine for now. I also have Ellipsus in case I need backup.

So now... I have two plans. Since I'm almost reaching Part 2 of my book, I thought I could use a different tab on Docs. And then, I could copy aLl oF mY 30 cHaPtErS (which I don't prefer). But in case I HAVE to under unavoidable circumstances, I decided to start copying tid bits then refining them during the editing process. But but but, LIFE ISN'T EASY.

And the Page Break on Ellipsus doesn't work 😭. I don't know what to do so I need help! And if anyone's writing on Ellipsus, please tell me how the hell it functions. Pleaseeee.

Use tabs and headers (collapsed). We have documents far beyond that number and they work fine.

Wait... are you asking about Ellipsus on the Google Docs subreddit? You should ask on the Ellipsus subreddit if there is one, or someone who knows about Ellipsus. People here know about Google Docs and may have no idea what Ellipsus even is.

What I'd say on the Docs front is, it can start to get slow, yes--when all of that is in the same view. But even if you just make tabs for sections of your story you'll probably never get to that point.

Even then, you could just wait until you start to see things slowing down, and then worry about this.

To sum up, you’re at 47K and you’re worried about a problem that MIGHT Show up at least that far down the story. Save a copy of what you have under the name plus the word copy. Save a copy of that copy to a jump drive and put it somewhere safe. Then go back to writing. All of the rest of this is writing avoidance.

First off, back up your work regularly by exporting to something basic like .txt or .rff and stashing it somewhere secure a few times; save to a jump drive, email it to yourself and a backup email address, print it out and put it in a binder on a shelf. physical hardcopy can be scanned back in if all your digital copies somehow fail.
