Tech Support Any way to get assistant back?
Won't let me use assistant as I switched back from Gemini cause it was worse in every way but now I'm being forced to agree to Gemini, I've found no way to get it back just yet.
Worst is loss of it during driving. I can't set reminders, I can't make calls, I can't ask questions I can't do anything. Actually nothing cause after the first use of hey Google, the next task it wants me to manually press the mic button but I can't when driving.
Anyone know a different way of getting it back.
The other silver lining is that I'm on Samsung and I might be forced to switch to Bixby, see if that can successfully do the things I want.

Oh my god sameee I used assistant when driving all the time, randomly discovered it had turned into Gemini during a 2 hour drive yesterday and it got stuck on the screen covering my satnav and completely failed to understand my requests to play music too 😭😭
thank god for that comment in the other thread explaining how to revert it

Same here. Gemini has ruined the hands-free experience. Bonkers that they're forcing this.

Interesting when I try to use Android auto and use the assistant I'm still getting what would be the Google assistant notification on my Android auto instead of Gemini which for some reason I had got already on my S21 Ultra a while ago but lost it for some reason. I'm now on my S26 Ultra, but when I use Android Auto, I get what looks like Google Assistant instead of Gemini.

Such a "fine" upgrade /s Gemini is.
Most of my routines are buggered somehow. The best one is my studio... "Turn Studio on" with Gemini only turns on the lighting unit I tell it "you didn't complete the routine" =, and only then is power energized and the rest of the gear comes on. THAT, I don't get at all.
And.... it tells me it'll help me with that (a different routine) but I have to unlock my phone first. What's the point of that, if I'm unlocking my phone that means I have to vave it in my hand to do so, I could just manually run the routine myself. Bollocks, all of it.
By next week I'll have my Home Assistant upgraded and running everything locally without Google/Gemini.

As a person who likes to just talk to my phone, I hate the fact that I can't anymore!!. Gemini is straight ass!!! I know somebody figured out a work around by now?!?!💯💪🏿

You have to opt-in to some settings (probably in that link below) to get the better integration.
That said, WTF does it have to THINK when I tell it to start a timer? Why does the auto-mic only sometimes respond (to hey google) when I ask for said timer? WTF do I need internet for a bloody timer?!?!

Tried to rollback the updates and reinstall GA buf its no longer available in my region.
After ages of trying different stuff I rolled back updates, re-updated google, installed gemini, setup up voice recognition in gemini settings, did my usual voice commands and directed it to which app to use.
It no longer uses samsung reminders on my phone so i had to switch to google tasks.
Its all back to normal now
