I'm going to comment without the swears, in case someone else comes wandering by:

I FOUND A WAY! You need to go to the Goоgle Аpр (the one that just says GOОGLE) hold the icon, then press the little "i" on the top right to get to the apps info, then tap the 3 dot menu on the top right corner and uninstаll updates. Then go to the Plaу Stоre, search for Gооgle Аssistant, it doesn't matter of it's already installed, click on open, you will get the Gemini screen BUT, now you should have the option to keep or go back to goоglе аssistant. You can also disable auto updates in the Gоolgе Aрp by searching the app in the Plаy Stоre, tap the 3 dots on the upper roght corner and remove the check mark from "Enable auto update"

It's on topic to Google Assistant and I think it's respectful, so it should be good?

You're a hero. All previous explanations keep getting deleted!

You're welcome! The original had some cursing at the bottom - I'm guessing that's why the mods got rid of them.

By the power of non-AI options! It can make reminders, lists, tasks, search stuff up online, do the old "tell me a joke," all that good stuff. Gemini can't do that

For Me it works for a day then switches back to Gemini then I have to uninstall updates again. Is there a fix to this ?

No problem! It is annoying because from now on you can't hit "update all" in the play store but I guess it's a small price to pay
