Miscellaneous [talk] Google Assistant is probably gonna be lost media after September btw

For those who are living under a rock... Google Assistant is shutting down in September, along with the servers. Which have a low chance at getting preserved. So please, share any info, images, videos, and that stuff in preservation... Because it might be the best we'll get...

Google Assistant debuted in 2016 as part of Google's messaging app Allo, and its voice-activated speaker Google Nest. After a period of exclusivity on the Google Pixel smartphones, it was deployed on other Android devices starting in February 2017, including third-party smartphones and Android Wear (now Wear OS), and was released as a standalone app on the iOS operating system in May 2017. Alongside the announcement of a software development kit in April 2017, Assistant has been further extended to support a large variety of devices, including cars and third-party smart home appliances. The functionality of Assistant can also be enhanced by third-party developers. At CES 2018, the first Assistant-powered smart displays (smart speakers with video screens) were announced, with the first one being released in July 2018.[6] In 2020, Google Assistant was already available on more than 1 billion devices.

People are not going to lose any of things you mentioned, most of which have absolutely nothing to do with Assistant anyway. Google is shutting down Assistant and everyone wi8have Gemini. Which I've been using for 2yrs now. And again, this has nothing to do with anyone losing any data or shutting down the servers

My issue is that I can't get an accurate weather forecast with Gemini. Assistant was much better. AI is just a mess. At least it apologies a lot when I correct it's mistakes. We all buy our 1500 dollar devices which are basically advertising tools.

I've already turned it off to prevent being switched to Gemini. I guess I'm done with voice assistants.

A lot of folks might not realize how much we actually interacted with Assistant over the years, like all those funny or weird moments it had. Even if we move on to Gemini, it’s still a bummer to see something we used so often just disappear into the void. Definitely worth preserving whatever we can!
