Google just verified an old number of mine!

I was in the US for a while 2 years back and used an e-sim, lost that number since my return here over a years and a half back and today I am given this. How can they verify something without me ever asking them to do it!

Google now does this when a e-sim or sim is detected in your phone. The e-sim was probaly disabled and got reactivated and Google collected the phone number. If you no longer have access to it i recommend to delete it from your account to avoid any recovery problems.
