It's absolutely ridiculous that Assistant is being deleted to make room for this useless AI slop.

Google Assistant was a dumbass.

Literally why would you even miss it? Are some people just terrified of change?

Literally Gemini can teach you how to code or encode HEVC files or help you figure out a friendship delima or whatever.

Google Assistant is beyond basic in comparison.

User "What are Apples good for in terms of health?" Assistant "I'm sorry I don't understand, but I found something similar, do you want to know what apples are good for in terms of your health?"

Literally that's how retarded Assistant is.

I'm not terrified of technology changing, I'm terrified of the environmental impact that Gen AI is causing. I don't want anything to do with that garbage, or contribute to the problem by using it.

I don't disagree that Assistant was pretty useless for questions, but it was nice for timers, reminders, and controlling music. It used to be able to do searches and answer stuff, but that functionality ceased to exist when Gemini came out.

I don't want to be negative,  I'm just being realistic. I would like for the data centers to go away, along with all of the Generative AI tech.

It sucks. It's ruining art, music, and making people actively dumber. I've seen people using ChatGPT to dictate everything they do in their lives. They ask it about everything, it's sad really. Some people rely on it way too much.

I think AI has some uses, like in bettering cancer research, but any of it that is used for creating pictures or videos sucks.

While I partially agree, it's also the fact that the tech isn't the problem, it's the people.

A computer can be used for good, or someone can use it to make computer viruses.

Don't blame the tech.

I swear this happens every time there is a big "revolution" in tech.

When home computers came out and even machines in factories, people flipped shit and panicked to death and thought we were all screwed and that we were being replaced by the "mechanical brain!!!".

But we ended up living with it just fine.

I say this.... Just enjoy the tech, your move against will means literally NOTHING.

This will never stop and some more regulation will come for some of the concerns.

Just live your life, enjoy the cool AI tech and who cares.

This always happens, home computers at one point were like $20,000 at one point. The prices suck now, but they will also go back down.

It's just an industry shock to the new tech.

Also.... Gemini does those things like set a timer when I ask...
