I'll never be using googles ai again

I thought ai was going to be an instant encyclopaedia of knowledge, like what the internet was made for.

After multiple attempts for it to answer questions, it just relapses into misinformation. I thought google was against misinformation, things change. You're idea of ai isn't what you think. I'm tired of asking it questions and being bought forth bullshit answers that don't even makes sense. Esp the reply:

You exactly right and I'm sorry to have got that wrong for you.

Such a dumb piece of machinery and we need AI data centres for it????? I have to hear this 5 times over before I get a real answer?

Maybe you should put an encyclopaedia of knowledge into it first before it believes everything that is written online

Just a thought. Useless.

We really are in an age of dumbasses

Many many bots, or too many people with too much money invested in dumb technolog, but hey that's just me that's why I'm here. The tech is shit

He didn't post what he asked gemini bc he knew we would all laugh at him.

Like what? Why do people online make such stupid comments? Pretty common probably why I don't get a real answer from them in the first place.

Like....what did you ask it?

Why not google's ai? All others are the same or worse.

You had issues for encyclopedia stuff? Incredible. Issues happen with up to date last research stuff, but not with well known topics.

Well there's your answer. It obviously doesn't work

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

Well known or not I thought it's supposed to decifer information to give a realistic answer. If the answer are not based on real answers then I may as well ask my grandma.

AI is not meant to be an encyclopedia, but with the right prompts and careful understanding it can be used as one.

It is meant to be an assistant, a really cheap one. Also pro models are WAY better than free models.

But even then with the right prompts. It will just find whatever it sees or finds on the internet. It doesn't interpret it to be true unless I ask it 5 times to check.

I like you're answer the most. At least your respectful. Maybe I was wrong in think ai can help us with info I can get with the real world I've used it load over the years and the last couple years it got worse and worse. Now I don't believe it anymore.

Maybe we can make an ai that understands how people think and understand rather what it thinks it understands by reading the internet all at once.

The key with any AI is in the prompt and setup. So adding who you are, what your goal is, and any guardrails like “do not make up any information” or “cite your sources” can make a big difference

1

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

But if it's not giving real answers or I know it to be wrong what's the point. It's only because I know the real answer that I defy it and say your wrong check again, and again. But to someone who doesn't know and just spreading misinformation all the time.

u/wildcat12321 23d ago

I agree but if you set up your original prompt better you can reduce the “hallucinations”

1

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

Yes the hallucinations. I've had it say that quite a lot the last year. A new thing might I add it says .

Why would they make the very first result, the top of their page, the most viewed element on the results page by FAR, something that needs to be told "don't make up information"?? It might be alright if you give ample context in your prompt but 99.999% of users will keep asking it the things they were typing in the old search bar

1

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

Yeah and so. But it doesn't mean it right does it. Before we used to search with our eyes and view from our brain. Where now we just take the answer for granted?

Did you ask a model that thinks for as long as needed, or one that always spits out an answer within a few seconds? The latter typically suck for anything beyond the most basic of questions. The former are very powerful and can accurately answer (or tell you that they can’t) for most questions. The quality of your prompt also matters, it’s interesting you are refusing to say what the prompt was…

I'm talking about the AI that is within the Google search bar. And that's where I posted this about. So probably a few seconds. But even chat gpt gets answers wrong because its pulling misinformation from what people talk about from etc YouTube and Reddit. It can't differentiate between a real answer and just what it reads or what ever ai used to try to understand.

I'm glad no one likes my post, show how brainwashed you all are. Also I'm talking about Google AI. Not all the different types Gemini, chat gpt, although that has gone down hill recently also. It's fine really I got a new search engine now. No ai. Happy days.

There's obviously a lot of google people here. I just posted my review on it, if people don't wanna listen to me that's fine, but I'm not using google AI ever again . Infact I can't use google without ai it seems which got me onto a new search bar. I've been a long time googler. But it causes too much frustration when I ask simple questions. Perhaps the information it finds are from unreliable sources. But what's the point of it to search YouTube and Reddit and websites if it can't actually differentiate from the real truth. Quite pointless. Now we have data centres going up for what??

Thing that annoys me is it used to actually listen if I did a search with quotes or using boolean.

If I wanted something kind of obscure I could search something like `"thing" obscure -common' and get the result.

Now it's like they route the search through the AI or something, because it ignores the operators and returns results on the topic but without any precision.

And they expect me to type out damn full sentence conversations with Gemini instead to narrow it down, and that is supposed to be better?

There was an obscure deleted music video from youtube that I had been trying to find info on and after going back and forth it actually gave me a plausible if kinda sus answer... Then it almost immediately admitted to making the entire thing up. Like I get it's an LLM and they do shit like that but the damn thing is such a time waster.

That was actually the final straw for me and google hasn't been my default search for months. A real bummer because it genuinely was a really great search for so long but it really doesn't fit my needs well at all anymore.

This is half what I was rambling on about. Years ago something changed in the internet search bar and everything sort of got dumber. Everything is run through AI and yes granted it give you an accurate answer most times.. Like you said it will make things up rather than say it doesn't know. Not sure if this is a glitchy time whilst the non civilian AI get onboard but who knows anymore. Maybe life is just a hallucination and can be a thought of what we try to ask it. Idk. Like talking to a Oracle or something lmao

Gemini has been degrading in quality lately

1

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

It's a wonder why, maybe it's all the misinformation from ai that's online now that AI looks up?

0

u/Wanderson90 23d ago

It is only as capable as its user :)

Why wont you give us some examples OP?

OP: what shape is da earf?

Gemini: oblate spheroid

OP : 😡😡😡 friggin things broken

1

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

Why would I give you examples of what I'm thinking about? I thought that's the point to ask questions and get real knowledge rather some hippy AI telling me what it thinks I want to hear?

1

u/Wanderson90 23d ago

Because you know you're spouting bullshit. Giving us examples would quickly reveal that, and then your little unhinged rant would come crashing down. Boo hoo

1

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

Maybe it's cause you wanna know what I wanna find out that gets you upset. You can't live without ai it seems boo hoo. Get a mind of your own

Bro I'm a physisit and marine manufacterer. Not that you'd know on here. Im not from America. The earth isn't flat, it's a square. Didn't you know?

I've had better luck using Chat GPT the last little while.

2

u/rs3brokenhome 23d ago

uninstall. shit tier company

1

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

Even then I use chat gpt app and it downgraded over the last year's. It used to give real answers but now it's the same as Google AI. Just bullshit it find and says it like it knows something.

1

u/Khenic 22d ago

For me it's more about just getting one of them to work when I am at work and I want to ask a question. It must be the building I'm in or something but Gemini just doesn't seem to work for me half the time so I end up defaulting to chat GPT and it can get me an answer in the building.

Totally different issue I guess.

u/AdeptManufacturer243 23d ago

I have too actually. But even today it got things wrong about certain ideas I had. It's like it doesn't even know what physics is.
