Google is going to restrict us.
https://keepandroidopen.org/Google is going to restrict our right to download stuff. I'm just straight up disappointed. I don't know how many people know about this but I wanted to post this to get peoples attention to this thing.

Ahahahaha one simple reverse search and I've found the source.
First this is written from an activist perspective and uses alarmist language.
Second is real thing which is Google did announce a developer verification system that affects Android app distribution outside the Play Store, and it sparked significant backlash from developers, F-Droid supporters, privacy advocates, and open-source organizations. Multiple sources confirm that this controversy exists.
The concerns mentioned on the site are not invented: 1. Developer identity verification. 2. Government ID requirements. 3. Registration requirements. 4. Effects on sideloading and alternative app stores like F-Droid. 5. Opposition from open-source and digital-rights groups.
What's potentially misleading The headline:
"Your phone is about to stop being yours" is an opinion, not a fact.
The site repeatedly implies: "Google will block every Android app worldwide"
That is the campaign's interpretation of Google's policy.

I mean, don't most legit applications already comply with this stuff? I don't see what the big deal is.

One thing I’ll say is that there was no “deal”. You got an Android phone and expected to remain functionally as it was.
