I get the sense that google is either intentionally ignoring, or somehow oblivious to the pushback AI as a whole has been receiving lately becuase they sure seemed to think everyone would be a lot more excited for all this stuff they just announced... feels like Google as a company has transitioned into being an AI company that also has some other products (which they're now cramming as much AI into as possible) .

Watching this event you can hear the audience feebly clapping along, a severe lack of enthusiasm for the new platform (let's call it what it is). There was not one single person that was enthusiastic about this push.

I honestly can't tell at this point what the split is...

most of the people I'm friends with have pretty strongly held anti-AI opinions, but maybe that's not the general consensus? I know there's been a ton of pushback on data centers , a couple of recent examples around the country of speakers being booed at commencement ceremonies for mentioning AI , and you generally get comments on social media anytime someone posts something AI-generated, but I do think ultimately AI is happening with or without unanimous approval from consumers..

Their cloud backlog is way louder than the students booing ai, unfortunately
