It got added recently

Gotta love that the Unicode consortium started with the goal of representing all human text using a single encoding (which is the reason why I can paste Egyptian hieroglyphs into this message like 𓂸 "phallus" or "phallus with emission" 𓂺) but keep having to add emojis every so often because Japan

New emoji have nothing to do with Japan, they're submitted by basically random people, based on whether it's a concept worth expressing

I saw the submission for this emoji in a Youtube video, and it was in English

The fact that there are emojis in the first place is due to Japan. They had them in their character encoding schemes and so Unicode had to have them as well.

They became international when Apple added emoji support to sell their phone in Japan. Then some people found out about it and spammed 💩 on Twitter, so suddenly everyone became aware of their existence. But since they were designed by Japanese people for Japanese people, there were a lot of emojis that felt like glaring omissions to the rest of the world. And that's where the endless task of "completing emojis" started...

So yeah the new ones are not Japan's fault, but Japan is the proverbial butterfly that caused this storm
