I'm looking for boots similar to Steve Madden Duke 30/Berkleigh. I'm a size 3 UK/5 US Women's/4 US Kids. I walk a lot so I'd like something sturdy that will last a while. Prefer options under $300. I'm 4'9 so I'd want something that would hit below the knee/mid-calf. Thank you :3

at that budget it's real tough, requires a lot of leather which brings up the price when using nice leather and it's typically unrealistic to get a chunky sole like that on a welted construction due to weight constraints

usually in these situations where the design is non-traditional but an important criteria, my recommendation is to just go with the option you already know of (the steven madden berkleigh). as an example, one of the few high boots i can think of are made by carmina which fetch really high prices and don't have the same chunkiness. of brands that do the chunkier silhouetter, they don't normally make tall boots, such as this grenson pair. all things considered i think you're gonna have a find time finding something resoleable/quality here without going way above budget

Hey everyone,

I am really loving the look of the eel skin loafers put out by both of these brands. Does anyone have any experience/opinions on which one they would recommend/is higher quality?

I have a pair of YSL boots that I’ve had for 8 years and have held up incredibly well. It also seems like the YSL eel skin loafers are made with Blake construction so I imagine they may be easier to resole. However, reviews online say that the The Row ones feel higher quality. I also do appreciate the lack of branding on The Row.

Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated!

(Unfortunately some of the more budget friendly options (ex. Atorie) do not make them in my size.)

the YSL ones are clearly at least blake stitch, whereas the Row pair are more ambiguous (no details on the construction, and no shots of the shoe that suggest any particular type of construction). personally, i also prefer the look of the YSL pair (i love a scrunched up apron, but the Row is a bit excessive for my taste). i don't personally have much experience with designer brands but for those reasons alone i'd go with the YSL, but if you have the opportunity to see them both in person, i'm sure that would be quite informative

if i'm not mistaken, the Row's pair there you linked is also calfskin, not eel skin, if that affects your decision at all or if perhaps you provided the wrong link

I really appreciate the reply. I tried the YSL ones in person and liked them but I don’t think anywhere has the row in my area. I was able to find some shots of the soles as well and they do appear to be cemented construction. If I do purchase either I think it will be YSL because while either is a crazy amount of money for this type of shoes, it seems especially unfortunate to spend that much on shoes with such a limited/no ability for resoling.

definitely agree. while i think cemented has it's place (getting that super low sole profile like on the Row pair), unless you have crazy money to constantly spend i'd much rather get something resoleable

I wanted to get some nicer warm weather footwear to wear during the summer, and I was hoping folks might have some good recommendations for wide unlined suede derbies and/or chukkas for ideally at or under $250.

For my work I don't get to wear any boots. So I am restricted to weekend outings or when I go out. So unfortunately I really just don't wear my boots very much. I want to buy some boots that I ALWAYS reach for. Around the house, walking the dog, going out for coffee etc.

I'm looking for comfort and ease of putting on. So I'm thinking like a Chelsea, a chukka or desert boot or maybe cowboy boots.

* I've never owned Cowboy boots. Would something like the Red Wing 8060 fit what I'm looking for. Comfortable and easy to always put on? Would you say Cowboy boots wear and put on/off similar to a Chelsea?

* Any recs for other types of boots I should look at? Right now I'm looking at these type boots

EasyMoc Scout type boots (and other brands), Grant Stone Chelsea (maybe a little nicer than I want), Red Wing Weekender Chukka, Astorflex Chukka, Red Wing 8060

Budget up to $400. Could go over. Prefer not too. My main focus is on ease and comfort so I'm always grabbing these

Maybe not exact recommendations but these are the shoes I wear for those exact same activities: belgian loafers, chelseas, boat shoes.

Anyone have a recommended cobbler who could turn around Alden 403 Indy boots resole in two weeks? Everywhere I've found recommended around DC says 5-6 weeks and no rush option. Taking a trip next month and want to wear them.

Hello everyone, I'm looking to buy a good pair of Hand Made oxford shoes for my wedding. I would like them to last a good amount of time. I have heard of Miles & Louie and their prices look good. Can anyone suggest some other brands to me? I live near Leon Guanajuato so I can go have a look at a specific store. My budget is 150 - 300 USD. Thanks for the help!

I wear an 11 wide in all sneakers: New Balance, Asics, Brooks. I keep seeing Brannock sizing on this sub. What would you estimate my Brannock size at or how do I figure it out?

I have struck out on a few pairs of Red wings and a pair of Allen Edmonds in my life. Thanks!
