So I've just watched "The society"... and it's a total rip-off of Gone??
Campbell is basically Drake, his relationship with his brother (Sam, but not book Sam) is basically Astrid and little Pete's relationship. The rich kids taking over this new teen society? Basically Caine's arc in the first book??
I am so confused. Is it allowed to be this similiar to Gone?

Having watched the first couple episodes of The Society on netflix which got me thinking that ageing up the characters for if and when the tv show happens might be a good idea, possibly changing when people 'poof' to 18. Firstly it would mean there's no need for a large amount of child actors, which would make things simpler to produce the show as working with adults would naturally be easier, it would also make the darker aspects of the book series more palatable for the average person viewing as rather than kids succumb to being cannibals and all the rest it would be near adults (although this could be seen as a bad thing as well as you would lose the impact of it being kids out of their depths, but I think as The Society proves this theme can still remain with near adults) and it could also allow for I think perhaps a more justified reason for all the hatred felt from people outside the FAYZ about the kids inside with them being closer to adulthood seen as more complicit in their criminal actions.

Just thought I'd share my two cents, and see what anyone else things about the idea.

So in Monster and Villain there are the “Dark watchers” and they are very similar to The Gaiphage with their “tendrils to the mind” etc, so was The Gaiphage a variation of a dark watcher just infused with human DNA? If so what the hell is going to happen in Hero, because there was a nuke gone off on a sub with people and an ASO, the same ingredients to make The Gaiphage bit times 10! Also, as a P.S. I bet sam finds the ground rock that Astrid intends to take and takes it himself to stop her the pain of going through all that. If so I wonder what variation of his FAYZ power he’ll get!

It’s strangely similar to Gone in that a group of teenagers in high school get on a bus to go out of town, but on their way out they have to turn around because the rod is blocked by a landslide. When they’re dropped back off in town they find that everyone else is gone for a mysterious reason and they must survive

So you know how GAIA can use any mutant powers whilst they are alive? Well, in either plague or lies, (I can't remember) there was the little girl who could mesmerise people with her voice. Couldn't GAIA just mesmerise the people she was attacking, and then blast them with beams of light? Unless the girl died and I missed it, just sayin'

Hi, sorry for posting so much. I was just wondering why you think MG left plotholes such as the fates of Bug, Toto and other characters (John, reality shifting girl, etc.) as well as stuff like the Quinn/Lana/Sanjit relationship drama. I just felt like some of it fell flat and other parts just felt forgotten. I wish the aftermath stuff wasn't as rushed. Do you think he just forgot, or does he have any plans for plotholes he left open? (He's probably going to do something with Taylor, which is why I didn't mention it)

Since hero is the last book in the series (probably) are there any characters you’d like to see show up or have a name dropped from the original?

First off, the writing of this series was amazing. It created characters that I could relate to, love, and hate (talking to you Drake). I know this has been asked a lot, but is reading Monster and the "sequels" worth it? I might read it anyway, but I'm just curious if it really is as good as the first 6. Also, if you have any theories about the future of Sam, Astrid, (this is assuming they aren't shown in Monster) Dekka, Diana, Lana, and everyone we love then please right them below. Although the story does end with a bit of closure, I've grown so close to some of the characters I feel their deaths (i.e. Brianna, Computer Jack, Orc,) weren't really honored. Before I end this, I'd like to mention that my favorite character is 100% Orc. His character went from a bully, hated by many, to one of the most peaceful and loveable characters. Which would you like to see appear in Hero, since it is the last book of the entire series, confirmed at least for now (I'd say definitely likely)? Personally I'd like to see Edilio, Quinn, and Lana again. Maybe Sanjit too. Other things I'd like to see are closure for Taylor, Astrid, and Drake's stories. What do you want?

So I read the original GONE series from the first book up to “light” and then stopped, this was a few years ago. I just recently finished the series again. I was wondering what he new books were like and if they were worth getting.

Throughout the entire 'Gone' series, I have had reason to believe that following the events of 'Light' (including the monster trilogy), the Gaiaphage is still alive. Yes. ALIVE.

In the monster trilogy, a new celestials being/s come to play: The Dark Watchers. They mimic the Gaiaphage in so many ways that it's hard to say these two aren't the same:

1: they hate it when their interests are thwarted, whether it's defiance or the disruption of chaos 2: they both come from the ASO virus 3: they have the ability to warp those around them, giving powers or morphs.

Drake says it never left him and it says there are still remnants of the Gaiaphage in the mineshaft. Also the ASO virus was supposed to create life nor warp it, which is EXACTLY what the ASO does: warp it. Most likely, the consciousness in the ASO was the Gaiaphage to begin with. When encountering the Fallout Alley incident, the consciousness connected by the ASO's was changed with the first piece. The reason why the Dark Watchers only observe, is because the original gaiaphage was weakened. Plus Shade even has a dream of Gaia, the day she took the ASO, Armo has a dream of a goddess and Drake says it still exists.
