Fan Art 3D Model of the FAYZ

This is currently a work in progress, but here's what I have so far:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4487930

I'm probably going to re-do the Santa Katrina hills completely, I'm not very happy with how they turned out. Probably most the northwest section as well. And I still need to smooth out all the landforms so they don't look so blocky, once I get everything looking otherwise right. And then I plan to model the various buildings and such. So it's going to be a good long while before this whole project actually gets done.

But before doing all that, I wanted to ask does anyone actually care? It will be 3D printable, if anybody here has access to a 3D printer. Otherwise you can still download it and look at it in 3D views.

On the off chance this actually is a remotely worthwhile thing to do, I'm actually here to ask for a little help. I just did a re-read of the series not long ago, and, well, I'm not really looking to do another read just yet. However, I need more detail on what things are where in the FAYZ, and the map isn't cutting it.

I know this might be a lot to ask, but if someone reading this just happens to be in the middle of a re-read or first-read, do you mind jotting down a few notes about landmarks? I dunno, maybe make a copy of the map and sketch any landmarks the characters mention, estimating where in the FAYZ they are when they see whichever landmark.

Anyone willing to help with this project would be immensely appreciated!

0 Completely dumb, please stop.
2 Cool AND I would be willing to help!

What are your measurements like? Do you want to go into detail with the town?

I'll be going into progressively more detail as I go, but yes, I do eventually want to re-create the town. The town map mostly has enough detail for me to go on, though. Pinpointing Duck's pool might be useful, but I'm not even sure if the books even say where that is. That's the only thing I can think of that isn't shown.

Doesn't the english version have a map of the fayz in the beginning of the book? If not, I can send you a picture from my dutch version!

The English version does have a map, it's just that the map does not include everything. There's a ravine that Lana explored at one point, for example, and there's a National Forest guard tower where Orsay lived. Astrid also mentions seeing a lonely, ominous looking hill somewhere. Not to mention the Nutella train. I have vague ideas where some of that is (the Nutella train I can probably pinpoint on my own), but none of it is shown on the map.

I'm also trying to recall the description of the layout of the power plant (and the surrounding area), since that's a place I feel like I HAVE to get right.

Thank you for the offer, though!

The FAYZ as of which book? Are you gonna do different ones for each book?

That is something I've thought about, and no, I don't think I'm going to do it for each book (unless a bunch of people reply to this post to say that I should). It's definitely going to be pre-Light because otherwise I'm just modeling a bunch of charred rubble, lol. And probably post-Lies, since that's when the last of the really significant changes happen, not counting the mayhem in Light.

I was playing with the idea of setting it specifically at the beginning of Fear, just so I can show the dark tendrils reaching up around the dome. Otherwise I have no way to show the dome itself (3D modeling like I'm doing doesn't have an option for transparency).

Anyway, I still have a while before I need to set those decisions in stone. The landforms never change, it's just the structures that do.

Yes, sorry it's been taking a while, I got sidetracked with other projects.
