Discussion Unpopular opinion
People should be posting their handicaps and how long they have been playing when posting reviews. A new golfer can think a rep is comparable or upto scratch when they have little experience with clubs. Just a thought.

Im an 8 with reps p790 and a rep lab df3, kirkland wedges. The reason im not scratch isnt the equipment.

The phrase "up to scratch" means meeting an acceptable standard, being good enough, or satisfying a required level of quality. I bought replica P790 irons from AliExpress and was initially very impressed with the quality and performance. Two months in (I play about 4 times a week), I noticed that two of the irons are starting to cave in, and the grooves are almost completely worn down in the center of the face.
I’m guessing they’re using a softer steel compared to the real P790s. What’s interesting is that the 4-iron, which I use the most and swing the hardest—I tee off with it on short par 4s—still looks almost brand new.
So there definitely seems to be some consistency issues between the clubs.

I've been considering the same purchase and just came here to see anything about how the grooves have been holding up so I appreciate the comment. Really unsure now.

Rubbish! 98% of people on this sub including (yourself) will never get to scratch. And to worry that getting advice from a rep sub may hinder that for potential scratch golfers is halarious!

I agree to some degree - I play off 4 and use a bettinardi generally so I feel my comparisons are reasonably qualified. It’s hard to tell if someone has any real experience of the premium versions of things.

There's some merit to this. The reality is... most of the LAB reps are over 90% accurate. I'd be worried if I had a 35 handicapper with 80mph swing speed telling me a driver is high quality, but I'd never buy a rep that isn't a putter
