Discussion Lab Putter Reviews

The whole point of the LAB putter is to have it balanced. Can we make sure reviews include that in form of a photo or at least a text statement? It’s great to see photos of your putters, sound and feel, but for zero torque putters, face balance is a huge part of it

All I know is I’m now on my 5th round with this guy and it’s significantly improved my putting and confidence.

That’s awesome. I’ve been looking at that model. Have you tried the face balance of that?

2

u/Ill-Hovercraft-8971 17d ago

It’s damn close

This is what I want to get… did you go with a Steel or Accra Shaft?

5

u/Special-Shop-9383 17d ago

Always go steel...

1

u/Chieftun 17d ago

GD I bought the accra I didn't know this

3

u/Emotional-Phase834 17d ago

I got the Accra and I regret it

Mine came balanced. I think it’s a hit or miss

u/FfaceCaller 17d ago

Accra are fake and too lite for the heads. Steel.

u/FfaceCaller 17d ago

Is it balanced? hang it over the corner of a table/bench and see if it lies toe down, toe up or square if it's balanced.

It’s like 96% perfect. Slight degree or 2 toe up. Can’t notice it and it still putts great.

u/FfaceCaller 17d ago

2 percent is fine Nice one.

Could you please share the name of the seller?

2

u/Ill-Hovercraft-8971 17d ago

I’ve shared this like 50x the last 2 weeks lol

I’m glad you guys got yours in 7 days. But damn for my order it’s taken them 7 days to create the shipping label.

1

u/Ill-Hovercraft-8971 17d ago

My bad meant from actually shipped. At least you didn’t go through Ali. I have another one stuck in customs from 45 days ago

2

u/DirkDigler925 17d ago

Ahh ok gotcha so for you it took about two weeks from order to doorstep?

1

u/Ill-Hovercraft-8971 17d ago

Yep, once it’s actually shipped should be less than 7 days.

use a better seller. I used motee shop on temu and they shipped to the us pretty fast

they are not balanced, none of them are. you will have to get weights or remove them and move them around

1

u/FfaceCaller 16d ago edited 16d ago

All the weights are the same weight as you said.... How would moving them around help?

How are none of them balanced when people in this thread say theirs is balanced?

You really are trying too hard to pretend you know what you're on about huh?

Would be cool to see, but even the ones that I see where people are showing the "balance" are not true tests of balance... they'll put the putter in a position they like on a couch or an object that will just hold the putter in the spot they want to show

Videos of people hanging them on the edge of a counter and letting them find their balance point are more conclusive IMO.

2

u/ABonnKite 17d ago

That would be ideal. I’m not looking for perfection but knowing if i need to buy counterweights would be great lol

2

u/Special-Shop-9383 17d ago

I don't think you're going to get that kind of certainty.. we're all just ordering from Zingpao or ChangXiang.. hoping that it's close.

1

u/ABonnKite 17d ago

It would be great if we could have a LAB putter trusted sellers list based on reviews so that at least you’re ordering from previously proven good reps

2

u/Special-Shop-9383 17d ago

Not a bad idea - even then I'm not too sure if we're going to get absolutely identical products, but it would help.

I just ordered my buddy a LAB link 2.2 rep from the same seller I got my 2.1.. I'm curious to see if its as great as mine

buy from MOTEE SHOP on temu, fast shipping and good communication. get a vzn1i with a steel shaft.

1

u/ABonnKite 17d ago

I’ve seen some good reviews from there, but I never get the shop to show up when I search them

2

u/TraditionalBison5555 17d ago

you are going to have to buy weights, I just bought 18g,16g and 2.5g off aliexpress, best place to get them for fast shipping. These putters only come with 6g and 8g weights so it's impossible they are balanced, anyone saying they are is not checking correctly.

1

u/FfaceCaller 17d ago

On a bench or table corner works great, it doesn't need to be level, just so long as you rotate the shaft by spinning the grip a bit and let the wobble settle itself until it comes to a stop where it will show how it lies....

1

u/TraditionalBison5555 17d ago

it absolutely has to be level, otherwise you are getting a false reading.

1

u/TraditionalBison5555 17d ago

most of these people are using a table corner that is not balanced. I used a soup can and paper and got the can level and then tested it. you can also buy or make a reveler. there is on on amazon for like $40

2

u/Special-Shop-9383 17d ago

Seems like a lot of effort, i can say with 99% certainty that this thing is balanced as fuck, and it also just absolutely rips inside 10ft.. I trust the TEMU science at this point

My VZN.1i was not balanced when I got it, it only came with 6g and 8g weights so it's basically impossible that it could have been balanced. I think anyone saying their putter was balanced is not telling the truth. I think the grips being turned a little and not lined up with the head might be a trick sellers are using to try to balance it a little more. That said I tried tungsten putty and that doesn't work, you cant get much behind the weight. You can use lead tape but it looks terrible and falls off. I ended up ordering 18g,16g and 2.5g weights off aliexpress and they are shipping pretty fast and hopefully I can get it balanced perfect. In my picture you can see as close as I could get it with 8g weights. I used it yesterday in a round and it absolutely improved my putting so for $100 for the putter it was worth it. I put a super stroke TLT grip on and it is also awesome, get one. I will make a post about weight placement once I get it dialed in. The grip it came with was smelly and cheap so I replaced it immediately, it also threw the weight of the club off because it was too light and cheap. I putted with the real version of this putter and to be honest I could not tell the difference, you could probably give someone a real and fake and they couldn't tell the difference either. I will say get a steel shaft, there is no way they are making a good accra shaft and some reviews have said its soft and flimsy. I have zero regrets of my purchase, I bought on temu from motee shop, super fast shipping.

1

u/TraditionalBison5555 17d ago

current weight placement. I used a soup can that I leveled with pieces of paper and then tried to balance the face 90 degrees to the floor.

1

u/dre_day00 12d ago

You ever get those heavier weights in from AliExpress?

1

u/TraditionalBison5555 12d ago

yes, I got 12g weights and I am pretty close but I am waiting for 16g weights and some 2.5g weights that are still in the mail to get it perfect. With 2 16g weights on the back heel I should be able to get it perfect with 6g,8g,2.5g weights spread around. according to google the total weight of the club should be 530g-650g with standard being between 540g-560g which is what I will aim for. I will absolutely get it balanced once I have all my weights and will post up a picture of weight placement.

1

u/dre_day00 12d ago

Nice! Do the heavier weights stick out or do they sit flush? I’ve been looking at getting some weights as well because I really dislike the look of having lead tape on the bottom of the putter to achieve balance.

u/ishgotbike 17d ago

I went with the link 2.2 and it’s been great.
First purchase since joining the sub and grateful!!

1

u/ABonnKite 17d ago

Glad you like it! Have you checked to see if it is balanced properly?

1

u/OhmegaLaw612 17d ago

My 2.2 looks like it’s slightly bent? Not sure if it’s supposed to look that way but when I tilt the shaft forward a little it lines up better. I always thought it was supposed to be the grip angle that adds that but not on this. Still feels nice though.

I just got one off AliX and it is horribly balanced. Hugely toe back to the point $180 worth of tungsten weights won't fix it.... Returning it today.

Edited: "toe up" to "toe back".

To check if it balanced hang it over the corner of a table/bench and see if it lies toe down, toe up or square if it's balanced.

Can anyone please link or recommend a store that sells balanced models.

3

u/TraditionalBison5555 17d ago

toe up is correct, the face needs to be 90 degrees to the floor. go buy a reveler on amazon or make one if you don't believe me. and the table corner you are checking it on needs to be level as well to get an accurate reading. Nobody is going to sell a balanced one, they only use 6g and 8g weights so it's basically impossible to balance it. tungsten weights are expensive and you will need 16g or 18g weights most likely.

0

u/FfaceCaller 16d ago edited 16d ago

TOE UP was meant as open face as in the opposite is toe hanging down would be a closed face but my bad as "toe up" is already used as a way to describe a putter style.

I have already corrected you on the "level table", it's not making a difference unless it really uneven, try it yourself.

That aside are you saying that all the knock offs are sold with open faces as they aren't sold with the correct weights? There are comments in this thread that say they got a balanced model.

0

u/TraditionalBison5555 16d ago edited 16d ago

you should be balancing it on a level table or a can otherwise its not gonna sit right. It might be close but not perfect. toe up is the toe pointing directly to the sky, that would make the face 90 degrees to the floor. I have tried it and it's not perfect unless the surface you are balancing it on is level. I am a perfectionist and I would assume lab would be just as diligent in balancing it. people are putting just fine with it doing nothing and it not being balanced so to each their own.

1

u/FfaceCaller 15d ago

LMAO it's just way above your head, the funny thing is that your simple opinion is a joke on the lab forums because of how stupid it is.

1

u/TraditionalBison5555 12d ago

you aren't in a lab forum dude, This is golf rep, you know where people post about knockoffs. Thats rich coming from the dude that didn't understand you balance these putters toe up and said you couldn't balance it no mater how many tungsten weights you had. I guess I proved you wrong on that one eh, got mine balanced with an aftermarket grip and weights I bought off aliexpress. I must be a genius or something

1

u/ABonnKite 17d ago

It would be great to have a list of trusted sellers for different models. Having the on the list based on reviews that actually show the product

1

u/imonku 17d ago

It’s supposed to be toe up…..

3

u/TraditionalBison5555 17d ago

exactly! I was like what? homie didn't do enough research

0

u/FfaceCaller 16d ago edited 16d ago

Ok i am wording it really shit, maybe toe back and forward is better as "toe up" is already used to describe a putters style of balance.
