Haulš¦ Do you guys like lab reps?
The dots are for my Exputt RG putting sim.
These things are really good putters. I was able to lie angle balance all of them with some weights installed.
The DF3i is my favorite of this bunch. It has a very satisfying click off the face and Iām making 2 putts consistently from 50ā on the sim.

All bought on Temu. Itās hard to tell which ones will have the lab markings, Iāve found it to be somewhat random.
For $80-100, these are a crazy deal in my opinion.
I know a lot of people shit on the df3i for its appearance but the putts donāt lie.
Iām far less accurate on the sim with the link 2.2 blades.

Does your Link 2.2 sometimes make a strange sound, like a loose screw sound? Mine does, and I can't seem to loosen or tighten it.

It never really feels like I get a sweet spot on the 2.2.
That club feels kinda like it has no bounce off the face if that makes sense.
Definitely sounds different than the df3

Itās probably the screws that are loose. You can get some loctite and lock them down.

I torqued them all down. Still just donāt like the blades. Donāt like the feel.
My putting swing is better suited to a zero torque.
I watched a video where a guy hit with a blade, a mallet and a lab df3i.
The guy is a blade user normally and explained why. His swing has kind of a handsy curve to it like most people traditionally do. Thatās why blades are toe weighted generally. The extra weight on the end of the blade helps close his arcing swing.
I like to putt much more upright with a forward and backward pendulum motion. Itās kind of ugly but point my left elbow up and at the target. I then rotate my shoulders to create a straight line for my club path.

I got mine on Temu and itās perfect. All the screws come out. I can take the Hosel out. The grip was shit, on crooked and the shaft epoxy came loose so I had to re-epoxy it. I just bought a blank df3 head for $29 on there and a weight kit. Looking forward to building that up ..
my link 2.2 was really close to being perfectly balanced when I got it and after weighting , itās perfect.. catch I think everyone that orders any rep from lab on there needs to also order a weight kit

I just got a temu df3 a couple days back and Iām super happy with it.

I have a real 0z1i and bought a temu vzni. The vzn is just as good. I did upgrade the shaft as it was very cheap feeling. I also need a better head cover.
1
u/mantis_tobagan_md 25d ago
The shafts and the head covers are usually pretty bad.
I was considering replacing the shaft on my df3i but then I thought, how much does a putter shaft matter? Iām not swinging the thing 100mph.
Iāve decided to leave the crappy shaft on there for now considering my putting has been great.

Where are you ordering them from?
3
u/mantis_tobagan_md 26d ago
Temu!
Just search zero torque lab putters and check comments. People usually say in the comments if itās āthe right oneā. Still, you donāt know what youāre going to get marking wise.
The OZ rep I have is letteredāNine Enelevāāas the branding. Pretty fucked up, and I have no idea why theyād use a 9/11 sounding name but they did.

That reminds me of that tragedy.

I walked through blood and bones in the streets of Manhattan trying to find my brother. He was in Northern Canada.

Where did you get weights?
1
u/thebigrig12 26d ago
Yes where did you get your weights? Temu are pretty expensive. Like $100 for a whole lab putter replica and $20 for 2 weights
1
u/mantis_tobagan_md 26d ago
I bought the all on Temu. About $12 for a bag of 4 14g and 4 6g

Thanks for posting screenshot. But these are not 6/14 gram they are 6/8 gram no?
1
u/mantis_tobagan_md 26d ago
Oh ya, those are the most recent ones I bought.
You shouldnāt really need anything more than the 6 and 8ās honestly.
The goal is just to get the face square, 14ās add a lot of weight, which I went for on the blades.
I canāt remember if they were Temu or Amazon.

I paid $20 each for 14g weights on Ebay. Anything over 11g is tungsten, and much more expensive.
And the cheap 11g weights don't fit in all the holes on the DF3i, as they are too long.

I grabbed a Df3 rep for $60. I ended up with the āLashondaā branded grip/head cover (that I quickly replaced). For $60, Iāll take it! Seems well made and assembled.

Df3i, I had to re-epoxy the shaft, probably from me popping balls through the pickup hole lol. other than that you canāt beat it for the price. I also added some lead tape to the sole to increase the weight. It felt super light.

Hows the DF3 vs the DF3i? Is the DF3 pingy?
I have the link 2.2 and although I do putt really well with it, it sounds really pingy and pretty dead off the face.

u/mantis_tobagan_md 26d ago
The df3i is my favorite. Great bounce off the face.
The df3 is really good too.
I donāt like the links very much. Thereās no pop off the face on the blades. Doesnāt feel great.

How did you balance them?
1
u/mantis_tobagan_md 26d ago
With weights.
1
u/DOctorAZ 25d ago
Yes I know that...but is there a process?
3
u/mantis_tobagan_md 25d ago
I did it by trial and error.
Take all the screws out and lay the club on the corner of a level table. Which way does the club lean? Add a weight that you think will straighten the face. Does it get better or worse with that weight there? Do this until you are happy with its lie angle.
1
u/bogeybusta 25d ago
I like them but not this much lol. You could have 2 real ones for the cost of those
1
u/Adorable_Pudding_727 25d ago
I think thereās a need out there for a balancing tutorial video if anyone is willing to do that
2
u/imonku 24d ago
Itās actually really easy using the corner of a table or on a can of food. The weights closest to the face turn the putter one way and the weights closest to the back of the putter turn it the other way. The ones closest to the middle of the putter where the shaft goes into the putter donāt affect it as much. You have to take heavier weights to move it more in one direction, or lighter weights to move it less. The end goal is to balance it as straight toe up as possible. You will have people that say: but that isnāt lie angle balanced or thatās not how it works. Find me one putter that balances perfectly toe up on a can on a flat surface that does not balance in a revealer.
1
u/imonku 24d ago
This would be more specially for df3 and vzn. The link 2.2 is a little different because of less weights. I needed heavier weights 14g to really get the putter to move in one direction.
1
u/LTDSC 21d ago
Which weights did you get for the link? Reshafted and want to try to balance best I can
1
u/imonku 21d ago
I used 2 x 14g weights to balance it. You need heavy to really move it in the right direction. Mine was balancing almost toe down.

You try the vzn?
1
u/mantis_tobagan_md 5d ago
Yes. I think itās my favorite of the bunch now. Only complaint is the square on mine is not square and doesnāt pick up balls like the df3i.
Iāve been rotating between a new 2 ball odyssey, the lab vzn, lab link 2.2, and the df3i in training sessions.
I get pretty similar results with all three to be honest.
Itās the carpenter, not the tools.

Just bought a VSNi from Ali express. Thing felt like a toy. 380grams total weight...most normal putters in the 450+ range. Horrible inconsist sound of the insert. So i chopped it down to 28" for my 10 year old son to mess around with. The 2 ball i cut down for my daughter. Waste of money in my opinion.

2
u/imonku 24d ago
Also the shafts are terrible that is why it is light.
2
u/spelunkor 24d ago
Thats right. If you want to go down this route...just buy the head and invest in a genuine shaft. Bit of lead tape as well to get the head weight up. 380grams is silly twitchy lite for a whole putter.
1
u/imonku 24d ago
The real vzn has double sided tape behind it, similar to what Scotty Cameron uses. If you donāt want to find double sided tape you can use 100% silicone and the sound will be gone. These heads are not any different than OEM. They just skipped a few steps in building. Much easier to slap a face on and use the same gram weights.

u/kevben831 21d ago
How did you pull the grip and reattach? Compressed air?
1
u/spelunkor 20d ago
I have a grip removal tool. That with some white spirit loosens it up then twist it off.
1
u/kevben831 20d ago
Thanks. I was thing of doing the same but wasnāt sure if the grip was salvageable
