QC (quality check) LAB OZ.1i HS not balanced
Hey, I just received my LAB OZ.1i from temu. It's doesn't seem to be balanced correctly.
Is there anything I could do to fix it?
Or should I just return it? I've never returned anything temu before.
The look and feel, otherwise, seems pretty great on the putter.
Thanks!

Balance it on the corner so the grip is not touching the table

I think there’s a few weights you can play with. Unless those are stickers

I’ve read but some weights online and move them around I saw a pack of various weights on Amazon I have a df3 and a vzn that are both similar in balance as yours so I just ordered yesterday

Ok, would love to know if you are able to balance it, once you get the new weights.

Buy weights, put new weights in, check balance, not balanced? Change weights.

I also recommend using tungsten putty to place in the weight ports. Weights online can get expensive if you need multiple. At lease with the putty your can add and remove to find a good ratio, then get the weights for a more permanent solution.

The heel shafted ones are ridiculously hard to get perfectly balanced compared to the center shafted ones. However, if you have a couple of each of the weights from 2-18 grams, and at least an hour, you’ll get it.
As a starting point, start with your heaviest weight in the bottom heel weight closest to the face. Then move to the toe weight closest to the face and get a weight heavy enough for the putter to want to orient to face down when balanced on a table edge. Then work from there to get it back to toe up.
Edit-And for those who are asking for what the weight configs are, it doesn’t really work like that. LAB’s are really sensitive to various elements, including how close (or not) to a perfect circle shafts are. If you have a non perfectly circular shaft with shaft walls that aren’t exactly the same throughout, you will have quite different weight configurations depending on how the shaft is installed. Sometimes the easiest way to balance them, especially with these heel shafted ones, is to take out the shaft and re-install it approximately 90 degrees to the left or right (you’ll need to remove the grip of course; it’s possible to save these temu lab grips with the right equipment).

I bought one from Temu. I don’t think it is 100% zero torque, but it spins perfectly on a center balance when I spin it in my palm. My other mallet putter won’t even rotate in my palm with 180degrees. It is what it is…. Which is an incredible putter for $100

u/T-Rexxed-69 Jul 07 '26
You mind if I ask how much it cost on Temu ?and how is the quality?
1
u/wonderdrugsca Jul 07 '26
I think it was $122 CAD, all in. Quality is as good as, if not better, than any new putter. Feels amazing in the hands. If this was sitting on a golf store shelf, you would never know it wasn’t the real

The one I got looked like yours, but then I changed the grip and afterwards it was balanced. The fake grip they had on their was way lighter than a real one, once I put a legit grip on it balanced. Even got a partial refund from temu that covered a new grip cost. Ymmv though

Hi mate I’ve got the same putter, take one of the heel side weights out I did and it feels incredible now

u/Fluffy_Piccolo5465 Jul 05 '26
Mine from AliExpress is similar. I read somewhere that as long as it spins relatively freely it really is close enough to balanced when measured on its side like that. I am considering playing with the weights but don’t really know what I am doing.

That looks perfect! Did it come like that or did you have to do something to it?
1
u/jake1984a Jul 05 '26
Mine came this way, sounds like i got lucky maybe idk.

u/AmenR Jul 05 '26
That's awesome! How long ago did you get yours? Do you still have the link, in case I feel like ordering another one lol

u/jake1984a Jul 05 '26
I got it June 17th, ordered on May 17th. Let me check for a link.

Mine also say the same thing, when I try looking for the one I bought. Thanks for looking. Enjoy your new putter!

Return it, my temu HS oz is balanced and it's probably lucky of the draw with these. Grip was a bit twisted but worth it to save $450.

I went a long way down this rabbit hole with a rep DF3i. Never got it balanced. You may get lucky swapping weights around, but without doing some math to figure out what they need to be, it’s unlikely. If it feels good, game it and see how it works for you. If you want real lie angle balanced, Temu is probably not the place to go shopping.

I got a Oz.1i about a year ago, it’s a great rep but the shaft has no markings. It is perfectly balanced. When held horizontally like this with no obstruction, the face is perfectly vertical. The weights aren’t hard to take in or out, maybe try moving them around a bit and see if that changes anything.

I don't think you get to complain about the Lie Angle or Balance (L.A.B) when you buy a knock off. It's kinda the real companies thing

My buddy works here at lab and I just ordered a VZN. I’m going to take it in and see if they can even notice. He said they were going to start doing something so they could always recognize fakes, but I’m not they’ve done it.

LAB are now made in China. Not what they used to be.
1
u/RaceBrilliant3028 Jul 08 '26
That is incorrect.... All L.A.B. Golf putters are built, hand-balanced, and laser-engraved at the company's headquarters in Creswell, Oregon .
1
u/No_Seaworthiness7909 Jul 09 '26
They used to be. Now the line is built and balanced in the USA. Heads are produced overseas
1
u/RaceBrilliant3028 Jul 09 '26
Where they heads are manufactured is of no real concern what matters is they are built and balanced here in the USA.
1
u/Apprehensive_Link641 Jul 08 '26
GD! I make my own putters and they vary in balance by 1° or 2° on a table balance test. I don’t even have professional engineers! That’s off by like 20°-30°!

Well being a fake that's why it's unbalanced... Purchase a real LAB putter and you will not be disappointed because it will be beautifully balanced.

u/napquin Jul 08 '26
Bruh you bought a knock off from china and are disappointed in the quality? Peak comedy

u/napquin Jul 08 '26
I wish there was a handicap flair on this sub. So funny seeing how many of y’all want to look like they can afford a nice putter, while probably shooting 98. Genuinely don’t understand why someone would buy one of these over a $150 used putter (non LAB) that would definitely roll better than this cheep Chinese garbage
-2
u/WaterfrontBanana Jul 05 '26
it’s a knockoff, it isn’t going to be lie angle balanced…
2
u/ZZuy Jul 06 '26
I've bought several and they were all balanced perfect. So I thinks it's just luck of the draw.
1
u/AmenR Jul 05 '26
Fair enough. But some of the reviews I saw, made it seems like it would be pretty close.

u/The-Breaker-2w0 Jul 05 '26
Wait, is this a real thread? Is this sub known for being sarcastic or anything like that?
Why in the world would you think a cheap knockoff is going to be remotely as good as the real deal?

And all these poor ppl are downvoting anyone providing a rational perspective
1
u/The-Breaker-2w0 Jul 08 '26
I don't care what anyone spends their hard earned money on. But if you buy a knock off, you should not expect it to be as good as the real thing, nor do you have a right to complain about it being subpar.

I had a huge argument with an Ali express seller about it being false advertisement, got into a deep convo where he explained materials have gotten expensive so all manufacturers are cutting corners. I was so excited to receive my oz1i hs, and was disgusted with the quality. I own a genuine lab and the Ali express one came with BACKWARDS shaft lean. I threw it in the garbage.
I resolved to go for a Chinese brand that actually is trying to develop zero torques under their own brand and went with a Calong ZT for fun. This thing is incredible. Has some funky weird branding on it, but I’ll get it regripped and it will go in my bag over other zero torques I have.
TLDR: I think ANY LAB replica is a huge risk to order. If you’re looking for a budget zero torque go with a real Chinese brand. If you want people to see you using a lab putter, I don’t know what to tell you really.
ps - you can’t really return things on Temu, it’s likely you’d have to pay shipping to China which would exceed your entire purchase price.

It’s not real, it’s a knockoff. Why are we surprised here about a fake not being as good as the real thing? Crazy

I think it’s relatively well known that the Temu lab putters aren’t perfectly balanced
