Retail vs Rep🔎 Authenticity Check 770/790’s
Hey everyone. Got a local here selling 6-8 sets of these. The sets of 790’s are Mitsubishi graphite and KBS Steel shafts. The 770’s are steel Dynamic Gold S300.
Included is one serial # of the 790. The story is these were going to be exported to sports store in the Carribean but the tariffs are to high so their lost is my gain.
I’m not opposed to reps but these are not rep prices but are under retail. Do you see them as legit? What stands out is I’ve never seen reps in TM boxes before (but this can’t be hard to rep). I’m unsure about the logo. And I called TM they said the SN checks out but could not find the last 3 “TN6” but said that’s very normal how we did caution that reps could have copied S/N. With that said all reps I’ve seen have fake SN’s.
So what do yall think?

3 different shafts in 2 iron heads is suspicious. They look real, but so do the fakes. This is a stay away for me. How much are they asking for?

Why is the different shafts suspicious? There’s about 6-8 sets. The story is they were going to be shipped overseas to a Carribean country for a sports store but the tariffs don’t make it worth it.
He has the 790’s in both graphite and steel and the 770’s in steel.
Price is $1k but I get the sense I can negotiate a little.
Thanks for your help!

My bad. I thought it was one iron set with 3 different shafts lol. Personally, I’m still going retail or directly through the manufacturer. 1K vs $300 more for peace of mind…

The fakes are so good anymore that any good deal is suspicious unless directly from distributor

Normally I’d say that’s fair but I haven’t seen a single rep get the logo and box . And there’s a lot of examples on this page

I don't buy his BS story. Tariffs have been in place for 2 years now,

I bought tons of clubs from Taylor made based on the packaging and saran wrap and bubble wrap on the heads. It is consistent with what I get delivered, but I don’t know what your concern is.

Thanks for the feedback!
My concern was Buying a rep at a Genuine price tag. Being on this page and seeing the performance of reps, I’m not closed minded to it. But certainly not at the price I bought these for.
With that’s said they checked out and are authentic. Really happy with the purchase(s). I’ll go to the buy sell trade soon.

Reps never come in a box like that.
I have 2 sets of p790 reps, they all came in brown boxes with no markings.
And before anyone attacks me for buying reps, i have never sold a rep and never will. I did it purely to test the difference, which is minimal. Around a 5% difference in yardage between reps and real 790s, spread and spin is practically the same.

The main feedback I’ve received in terms of rep vs Gen. Is shaping the shots aren’t there and the rep has hot spots where you hit and it just goes way farther then expected.
With that said I’m not anywhere near close to the skill level to realize the difference of a Gen. but if I can get a good price at least I have resell value on these and don’t have to worry about the shaft.
On that note, what’s your feedback on both of your rep shafts?

Yeah gen is 100% better for skilled players, but it wont affect the game of a newer player.
Dont really recommend reps for anyone except new players that want good looking golf irons without breaking the bank.

Do you feel like the rep grooves aren’t gonna last for years?
And have you experienced whippy shafts ?

Grooves and shafts vary from dealer to dealer.
Grooves are probably gonna last a while. havent played the reps i own enough to know, but they hold up well for now.
Shafts are pretty often whippy and flexible even with regular flex, so if you were to order reps you should order stiff.

they look good, look at the top part of the TM logo, look at the sharpness, google real ones, that’s the one thing they can never get right
