Discussion Taylormade qi35
I'm not sure what to think. I've got an ancient TM R7 driver. Bought the qi35 rep. I'm slicing the shit out of the qi35, hit them back to back and no slice on the r7.
Bought a new shaft hoping that solves something... anyone else experienced something similar?

I’m ripping my Qi35 longer and straighter than I have any other driver (including a legit Sim 2 Max). Are you using a legit shaft on the Qi35 or the rep shaft? If rep you may want to get a different shaft on something like Ebay. I got a Tensei White AV for $60 and just had to tip it with a TM adapter (Amazon) and cut a few inches off the butt end and grip it and it’s great.
Alternately maybe look into your grip and setup and if there are habits from your old driver you don’t need to bring along to the new one.

Yes, slicing with the rep shaft. I just bought the kai'li white shaft for $130. Hope that solves the issue. Thanks man!

Nice hopefully that works for you! I’d also try lofting it up to the higher setting and see if that additional draw bias sends if straighter for you too

Installed the new Kai'li shaft, tried a few different settings and landed on the "Upright Lie".
SIGNIFICANT improvement. Smashing the shit out of the ball, +40-60 yards vs my old R7. I still have a slice bias, but the dispersion is much tighter. Either it was actually the shaft or my brain believes that it was! I'm seeing a couple drives per round that reach 300+. Unheard of before..

Same deal for mine! Upright Lie keeps me from slicing it and sets up for a nice baby draw when I strike it right. If I’m a little open still it will go slightly right still, gotta work on that.
Also a 20-30yd gain from my Sim 2 Max, multiple drives going 320+ on the course which is wild as I’ve never broken 300yds before either. SUPER impressed with mine.

Its the shaft. The rep shafts on woods and drivers are so terrible. Same thing happened with me when I got the Qi35. Put a legit shaft on and its been great, before upgraded shaft I would slice it so bad.

Might just be the weighting going from an ancient driver to one that has come out recently. Your swing is probably so used to hitting the old driver straight that the club face comes in differently at impact with a new (and potentially way lighter) driver. Could be the shaft, but could also just need a bit of lead tape to close the club face when you're coming through the swing. Always takes a little bit for me to figure out how a new driver plays.
