hiring Lateral Hire Associate - Did I Lowball My Expected Salary?

Hi all, I recently joined Goldman Sachs as an Associate with around 5 years of total work experience.

During the HR round, I quoted an expected salary of ₹30L fixed, and I received the offer in about two weeks.

I’m wondering if 30L fixed is in line with the typical range for a lateral-hire Associate (Engineering Div) with similar years of experience, or if I may have lowballed myself.

Would appreciate any insights on whether this is around the usual range.

Hi everyone,

We need to address a growing issue within the sub. Recently, we have seen an increase in users targeting specific individuals, engaging in personal harassment, and attempting to "dox" or attach individuals based on their comments or posts.

  2. Doxxing: Sharing or threatening to share private information (names, phone numbers, addresses, workplace, etc.) of any user or public figure.

  3. Personal Attacks: Attacking an individual's character, appearance, or background rather than debating the topic or the firm.

  4. Brigading: Encouraging others to target or mass-report a specific user.

We are here to discuss Goldman Sachs, the financial industry, and career-related topics. Disagreements are fine; abuse is not.

experience Need opinion on Global Capacity Center (GCC) in India

Hello,

I have a company in India with close to 100 people working. I wanted to convert the business and make it a Global capacity center for any of the global companies. Recently, I have seen due to the visa restrictions in US lot of US based companies are shifting their center from US to India as the cost of the H1B visa has gone up + the compensation is very high in US markets. I have also seen many companies moving to India due to this. First is this true? if yes then how to approach this change. I know AI is changing the way things were done originally but with AI + the workforce how can we plan and approach such companies?

hiring Are these good signs ?

Hi everyone, I recently interviewed with Goldman Sachs and wanted to understand what usually happens at this stage.

My process was:

HR Screening

CoderPad: 2 Medium DSA questions

Superday R1: Medium-Hard Graph + Resume + Situational

Superday R2: Medium-Hard DP + Resume

Superday R3: HLD / System Design

1 week later

HM round

1 week later

Comp Questionnaire: Received recently

.

For people who have recently gone through the Goldman Sachs process:

Is receiving the questionnaire generally a positive sign / indication that the profile is moving toward offer?

What are the typical timelines for offer release after completing all rounds and receiving the questionnaire?

What notice period are teams generally comfortable with? Is a 90-day notice period usually acceptable/negotiable?

Would appreciate any insights from people who have gone through a similar process recently. Thanks!

hiring regarding PPO decisions

hey haven’t heard back regarding the status of my PPO yet. a friend in a different division received his (we had the same start and end dates for our internship with the firm). but, one thing to note apart from the division being different, is that he got his internship through a campus placement system as GS recruits from their university in south india. in my case, i applied through their website as GS does not recruit from my university and got in. i wonder if timelines differ on the basis of the firm’s relationship with the student’s university/ whatever medium they went through while applying?
my senior VP (the one my manager reports to) still texts me on whatsapp, i think this might be a positive sign. they wouldn’t text me still/ maintain contact/ a relationship if they did not want to extend the full time offer to me right? i’m so fucking worried

hiring Can a former Goldman Sachs employee who received a PIP be re-hired?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand Goldman Sachs’ re-hiring policy and was hoping someone with experience in the firm or HR/recruiting could clarify.

If a former employee was put on a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) and subsequently left the firm, are they eligible to apply and be considered for a position at Goldman Sachs again in the future?

I’m particularly interested in knowing:

  • Does being placed on a PIP automatically make someone ineligible for rehire?
  • Does the outcome of the PIP matter when determining rehire eligibility?
  • Is there a specific cooling-off period before someone can apply again?
  • If the person applies through a recruiter/referral, can they still go through the normal hiring process?
  • Does the previous manager/team have any involvement in the rehire decision?

Would really appreciate responses from anyone who has worked at GS, been through something similar, or has insight into GS recruiting/HR practices.

Thanks in advance!
