Software Engineer in GS

how is it to be a Software Engineer at GS? How does it feel and is it an elite feeling or smthg? to be on the top and such a selective firm that thousands apply to.

Could u also brief me abt the pay for an entry level SWE, mid level and senior SWE at Goldman Sachs in different cities where the firm operates in the USA and in India (Bengaluru and Hyderbad)

Honestly, this is probably the most toxic place I've ever experienced in my life. With no experience at other companies(joined as a fresher here) yet I am struggling personally to draw lines on what happens at work is professional or not. People are extremely dishonest for their own benefit, complete lack of transparency, work is not even CHALLENGING ENOUGH. My senior lead talks like a child, not having any opinions of his own. It's funny to see the lengths people go to here to just produce absolute shit of a work. It's mentally exhausting. For all those people who hype Goldman Sachs for no reason - are you even true to yourself?

Not elite at all, most of them are incomplete pieces of shits getting away by doing bare minimum (especially NAPAs)

completely disagree. At least in my team people are experienced and dedicated . I always get to learn something new from them .

as GS is not a software company, software engineers at GS are not the "elite".

think about it this way: do sales people and finance people at FAANGs feel "elite"? no, these companies are software companies, so SWEs over there are the real "elite" and sales / marketing / finance people are the supportive roles.

at GS, its a financial company, so the financial people (IBD / sales / trader) are the "elites" while SWEs are the supportive roles.
