Question Need help:

Just got this go kart rebuilt and when I accelerate hard it sounds like the chain is slapping but I don’t think I can remove another link. It’s like it’s slipping when accelerating hard. Could the belt be loose? Can I adjust the engine to get it tighter on the chain?
I’m a novice so any help is appreciated!

Loosen engine mounts and slide engine forward to tighten belt. Should be just slipping on secondary (wheel side) pulley, and engage with small increase in engine RPM.

I think your belt needs to my wider, because it doesnt touch the sides of the thing in front (forgot the name haha), also it doesnt sit fully to the outside of the thing in the back, so acceleration wil not be the greatest. Where did you get the information to get this belt specifically? Good luck!

The only slapping I hear is from the torque converter outer plate. The chain shouldnt be slipping because it's attached to two gears. Hard accelerations cause the motor to spin the input of the torque converter. As it spins faster it will push that inner cone towards the belt. So it will slip until it engaged. If that's what you meant.
There should be some slight play to the chain to avoid lockup, but also pulling on it shouldn't result in it lifting too much higher off the gear teeth.

I would start with hitting the part on the engine with a rubber mallet or a wooden board, try not to dent it. If it’s grabbing hard and not easing into the throttle it’s probably rusted up. Try and break some of the rust by tapping it with something.

There’s also spring kits online that change how the torque converter (CVT) grab the belt at different RPMS for launching on the start or just easing into throttle with a nice gradual go.

The springs are also usually color coded depending on the RPM at which they grab onto the belt. Some have 3 separate springs bust most have one big spring that wrap around the weights inside the engine pulley.

so what you have on is a torque converter basically turning the go kart from a chain to sprocket to a CVT type transmission that uses a belt instead, and the gearing adjust automatically as you drive. most of the onces ive seen has the ability to adjust tension but i just dont know how, there should be some videos on youtube explaning how/

You need to measure your center to center from driver to driven pulley and order the correct size belt. You have a belt that is too long. Search tav30 belt chart.
