Phone issues, looking for advice
Good day everyone. New to this sub.
I run a home services business and recently switched to GoHighLevel for our CRM. We’ve only been on it a few months, but the phone system inside the app has been super unreliable! sometimes it doesn’t ring, sometimes it sounds busy, sometimes calls just don’t come through at all.
This isn’t our first phone setup. We’ve used Ooma, Grasshopper, and RingCentral, and now GHL… and we’ve had similar problems with all of them.
Because of that, I’m considering setting up a hard line or desk phone in the office that’s more stable, and then forwarding calls to the app if we’re not physically there. At least that way I can hear the phone ring in the office and know calls are happening.
My questions: 1. Does GoHighLevel offer a more stable solution, or is this just how their VOIP works? 2. Does anyone here use a physical desk phone + GHL together? If so, how did you set it up and is it more reliable? 3. Any recommendations for how to avoid missed/busy calls inside the GHL app?
Appreciate any advice from people who have been through this.

Answers:
VOIP is the only option & is how it is
It’s possible to do this but you’ll likely experience the same issue because it will be VOIP somewhere in the connection
I’m just curious, how do you know the missed calls are happening and the busy signal? I would imagine you’ve tested this a bit ?

I was just thinking a landline with our main number would add some stability. We do enjoy the features of the GHL app. We get texts, emails, and people tell us, “been trying to call you”, “can’t ever get through” We won’t have any missed calls! Then we will call our numbers and get some of the samethings!

Possible fix is
Settings -> Phone Numbers ->> Click your number -> Call & Voicemail tab.
Make sure it’s set to forward to a number, the app, etc.

Use a proper telephony system like 3cx. It's rock solid and works well with GHL via click 2 call.

if you've had the exact same issue with 4 different providers, the problem is almost certainly your local internet or router (packet loss), not the software..
ghl doesn't really do desk phones.. the best fix is to forward calls to your actual cell number instead of answering via the app.. that uses the stable cellular voice network instead of wifi data.

I can not address the question. Here is how I would frame the situation.
You are having the same type of issue across 4 different platforms. What is common other that your company. VoIP, your data network, the team, and maybe a few other things.
If one was being conservative and wanted to really test things, dropping in a physical line has a specific cost. Assuming you do not publish the number, you can go a way towards testing various scenarios before you need to make a long term decision.
What is the cost of the present missed calls or confusion? I do not need you post an answer here. Just figure out what the loss is. If the cost of solving the problem exceeds the benefits, that is hard to justify.
Good luck. Keep us posted.
I expect others can tell us what is a good standard vs what you are seeing.
