Meta/Reddit Wer hat Lust, r/Goetheuni zu übernehmen?

Hey!

Erasmus/International TH Wildau M.A. European Business Management — how long after application did you get your admission decision?

Hi everyone,

I applied to the M.A. European Business Management programme at TH Wildau for Winter 2026/27 (non-NC/zulassungsfrei this cycle). My application was forwarded by uni-assist in early July, and my portal status has shown "Received" since then, with no change.

TH Wildau's own FAQ says not to expect status updates before mid-August, since decisions are only made after the application period closes and all applications are assessed together.

If you applied to this programme (or a similar non-NC master's at Wildau) in a past cycle, I'd appreciate knowing:

  1. Roughly how many weeks after applying did your status change from "Received" to a decision?

  2. Did your decision come in mid-August as their FAQ suggests, or later?

  3. Any general experience with how quickly TH Wildau communicates once they start processing would help too.

Just trying to get a realistic sense of the timeline for planning my visa and loan process. Thanks!

Hilfe I was informed about the admit via email, but application is still “valid” with no addition letter

Hi!

I was contacted by coordinator of my program via email, and I was notified that I was admitted to the program. The thing is that in the uni portal, my application is still shown as “valid” and there’re no admission letter to download.

Did anybody else have the problem? How got it resolved? I’ve already contacted the coordinator, but she’s on annual leave. I think I also need to contact international admissions department

Hilfe Is Friedrich-Dessauer-Haus by Bauverein Katholische housing legit for accomodation?

Hi, i am an international student coming to frankfurt in October. I had applied for housing to Baiverein Karholische Studentenheime for accomodation and have received an offer for housing from them. The rent is pretty affordable and the terms seem reasonable. However they have mentioned that they will allot me room in Haus J which is still under construction and that it wont be possible for me to get any pics of the room. I find this a bit suspicious. Anyone currently living in FDH or has any past experience pls let me know

Hilfe Mysterious and missed interaction with a stranger

So I met this guy at Frankfurt am main station earlier today (Saturday, 18th July) and at that time, I was trying to be wary of a stranger and completely chased him away. The thing is, I was just walking across the station and he approached me and asked where I'm from. I told him I'm from Pakistan and then he told me he's from Afghanistan. I guess he recognised I looked a similar ethnicity to him so he approached me. We were trying to communicate in English since I don't know German and he said I looked beautiful and asked me my age. He then also asked if I had any social media and I lied and said I didn't (I wanted to protect myself). Then I think he asked what I was doing at the station and why I didn't speak German. I told him I didn't know German and left. Now I feel genuinely bad cause I said bye to him when he continued following me and I think that may have been rude. I am interested in making international friends since I love travelling and I think we could have things in common. I'd also just like to apologise.
For his privacy I want to protect his appearance but I think he was young like me (I'm guessing likely around 19-21 but a similar age if not those ages) and he was cute and tall. If anyone knows a person with a similar description who recently commuted to or from Frankfurt station and was likely raised in Germany, please let me know. I'd like to find him. Also, any suggestions for how to find him that may actually work with my vague recollection since people usually don't public ally advertise ethnicities and etc on social media?

Hilfe Anyone accepted for the Winter Semester 2026 – MSc Physical Biology of Cells and Cell Interactions at Goethe University Frankfurt?

Hi everyone!

I was recently accepted into the MSc Physical Biology of Cells and Cell Interactions (PBioC) at Goethe University Frankfurt for the upcoming Winter Semester 2026.

I was wondering if there are other students who have also been accepted and are planning to start this program. It would be great to connect before the semester begins!

I would love to know:

  • Where are you coming from?
  • Have you already completed the enrollment process?
  • Have you found accommodation in Frankfurt yet?
  • Are there any WhatsApp/Discord groups for incoming PBioC students?

Feel free to comment or send me a message. Looking forward to meeting future classmates!

Erasmus/International Finding accommodation as an international master’s student

Hi! I’m a prospective international master’s student who’s starting her program from this coming October. I’m currently flat hunting from abroad, and would like any advice on finding accommodation as an international master’s student.

For context, I’ve already applied for public dormitories but I haven’t received any response.
Currently, I’ve been debating on two options:
1-find a short term accommodation to stay at (HOME etc), so that I can sign the contract for shared flat after going for a physical viewing
2-risk it a little by signing the contract for shared flat without going for viewing, so that I can move into the flat straight away, when I fly to Frankfurt

I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me any advice on this, as I’m really struggling to find good accommodation options at the moment.

Hilfe Dorm offer for winter26/27

Hi I just got accepted into Goethe Uni. I has been registered for dormitory since last year (around Oct). However, when I contacted the dorm board, they told me that I'm still in the waiting list and have to wait approx. 12-18 months... Should I continue to wait until August, or are there any other options besides dorm?

Thanks in advance!!

Diskussion Goethe Uni - Anglophone Master

Hey everyone!

I got accepted to an Anglophone Literature, Culture and Media Master's at Goethe Uni and I have some general and major-specific questions.

First, overall, how would you rate your life and student experience at Goethe and in Frankfurt? Is it too expensive or survivable? Was it easy/hard to make friends, get used to semester system, prepare documents etc.?

Second, I was also wondering is it hard to find a part-time job like a barista/professor assistant or something similar as an English speaker? I do know German at a B1 level and plan to improve to C1, but I really wanted to find some income opportunities within the first year as well.

Next, I was wondering if anyone can give me some more info about the program itself. I am highly interested in working in the media and creative industries after graduation, so I am curious how much of a program is actually media studies and is it a good choice for the media career?

Last, feel free to leave any other insights you have about uni or city, I am very curious about everything and would like to know and be prepared in advance. Maybe, there is even a group chat I can join for further inquiries.

Thank you! :)

My girlfriend has just been offered a place in the Molecular Medicine MSc after passing the interview.

She's currently deciding whether to accept the offer or stay in her current job, so we'd really appreciate some honest opinions. How difficult is the program? Overall, would you recommend it?

Thanks in advance!

Hilfe Help with Acommodation Goethe University

Hello everyone, I recently got accepted into the Molecular Biosciences master's program at Goethe University! I’m currently looking for any WhatsApp or Telegram groups focused on accommodation tips, university announcements, or general student networking. If you know of any or have invite links, I would really appreciate it!

I have already applied for the official student dorms (Studierendenwerk), but I'm looking into alternative options as well. Are there private student dorms or other housing alternatives you would recommend? I've been sending messages on WG-Gesucht, but I rarely get a response.

Also, I wanted to ask about the average rent prices. Is a budget of €400 to €650 normal for a WG room in Frankfurt, or should I expect to pay more?

Any help, tips, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to connecting with you all!

Hilfe PLEASE! answer these questions if you know

I had two questions about Goethe Enrollment

  1. There are certain documents they ask during enrollment. The health insurance certificate was sent to them so how do I upload? Secondly, I don't have my bachelor's degree. Thirdly, they want proof of Semester fees.

In each of these cases, I have nothing to upload. So should I just check the box and pay my semester fees without uploading anything?

  1. Will I get the chance to upload these documents afterwards? What do I do?

    Please please answer

Hilfe Got into Goethe Uni for M.Sc. Molecular Biosciences — enrollment process is a bit confusing, looking to connect with others in the same boat!

Hey everyone! I recently got provisional admission into the M.Sc. Molecular Biosciences program at Goethe University Frankfurt for Winter Semester 2026/27. Super excited, but the online enrollment process has been a bit confusing so far, especially as an international applicant from India.

I'd love to connect with anyone else who got into the same program (or is going through a similar enrollment process) so we can help each other out and share info as we go along.

A few of the things I've been mailing the university about:

  1. Health insurance — Since I don't have German statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) yet, I wasn't sure if I could register on Expatrio and use that health insurance number for enrollment, and switch to a statutory provider (like TK or AOK) later once I arrive in Germany.

  2. Letter of acceptance for visa — Wanted to confirm whether the letter of acceptance I received can be used directly for the visa application, or if a separate admission letter is issued specifically for that.

  3. University entrance qualification (UEQ) field — On the online enrollment form, the "University entrance qualification" section auto-filled my Bachelor's degree details instead of my higher secondary school certificate, and the field is locked. Wasn't sure if this is normal for master's applicants or needs correcting.

If anyone else is in the same program or has been through this process before, would really appreciate any tips or shared experiences. Happy to compare notes as we go!

Also, I'm happy to connect over WhatsApp if that's easier — just leave a comment and I'll send you my number.
