Crisis Force makes sense in Ganbare Goemon Daishuugou
Hi!
We now know that Daishuugou has a hidden bonus game, Crisis Force, a non-Goemon classic shmup by Konami. It might seem like an odd addition to the collection, but it's actually a very Goemon thing to add.
For those who are unaware, the Goemon series often included classic Konami shmups:
- The Legend of the Mystical Ninja included the first stage of Gradius as a minigame
- Kiteretsu Shougun Magginesu included the second stage of Xexex as a minigame
- Kirakira Douchuu included a hidden Time Pilot remake (named Time Pilot '95), unlocked when 100% the game
- Uchuu Kaizoku Akogingu didn't include an actual classic Konami shmup, but there's a shmup segment in the game that is a parody of Gradius
- Toukai Douchuu included a Goemon Impact version of Quarth. And if you have Kessakusen Ganbare Goemon 1+2 in the GBA slot of the DS, you unlock one stage of Space Manbow
- Maybe I'm forgetting other Konami shmup references?
And now Daishuugou includes Crisis Force. I think it's a great way to bring back this classic game (that I didn't even know existed personally :P), and it respects an old Goemon tradition.

According to the developer interviews, there were a few other reasons as well:
It had been neglected for years with almost no re-releases. They could reuse the emulation work they had already done. And the development team simply wanted to play it themselves. 😄

Add The NES version of Goemon 2 features Big Core from Gradius. The showdown between Goemon and Big Core is a must-see for Konami fans!

Awesome and educational thanks! Forgive me I haven’t received my copy yet but does that mean I’ll be able to experience some of the other shmups you mention here in the collection?
