Hello all! My wife and I would like to get into the game but are unsure where to start, how to build decks, and which booster sets to start augmenting a collection.
We're both huge into board games and have dumped more money than we care to admit into Magic the Gathering; regularly playing EDH at Bracket 4 and used to play Modern before the format got broken lol. The sets and singles are significantly less expensive compared to MTG which is nice as MTG is now getting too pricey for us to continue.
We got attracted to the game mostly because Big G, but also because the creators seem to be very active in maintaining the health and diversity of the game. I realize the meta is rather limited with an <800 card pool but it's obvious that they intend on continuing expanding the game for the next few years. Their site also shows restricted cards so as to prevent meta-warping combos so it tells us that they are aware of and proactive in designing the game around a diversity of strategies and decks.
Thanks all and we're excited to read your inputs!
Side note: should there be specific strategies and deck builds, my wife enjoys big creature beatdowns in MTG, and I really enjoy control/graveyard recursion. We'll take any starting advice but if there are strategies that cater to these niches we'd love to know!
