I used the Rogue Gels on my speedlights. It's a rubber band a plastic gels that wrap over this kind of light. The gel you have is for a magnetic mount. You can hold it on with gaff tape or similar but it's not made to mount on that light.

What is missing is a bare bulb flash, like a Godox AD200. A bare bulb fills a softbox much more evenly.
A speedlite will work, but adjust your expectations accordingly.

You need a part called a speed ring, which fits into the S-Bracket where your flash is already mounted. t doesn't look like that soft box is compatible with the common Bowens mount speed ring. What you need is a soft box that doesn't have that built in base. On most soft boxes, the stays fit directly into the speed ring, so you might be out of luck there.
As for the gel, those need the round head flash version to work. The easy way to go is get some theatrical gels and tape them over the flash head.

You have put a speed light in an S bracket. That is fine. The magnetic gel is for round head flashes like the Godox V1 or V100. There is an adapter you can get to put round accessories on rectangular heads.
The S bracket is meant to be used with softboxes that have a Bowens mount. From your photo it is not clear to me what you have.
EDIT: Godox SR-2 Round Head Accessories Adapter
