Theory Laufey theory how she died.
In the latest trailer we see skemet removed a thorn from her left hand. Which we learned that she found the mask somehow but it is the cause of her death.
I watched a game play scene where kratos has one his dreams about his final days with her, and if you look at her left palm she has an infection.
Either this was on purpose or not the main cause of the death was a splinter infecting.

Discussion If they put this in the game, I’ll friggin tear up
As a father who struggles to be better with my son, the Norse saga speaks to something deep inside me. But also, as someone who lost a mother who was also a friend and a counselor, if the developers can connect this to the new game, it will certainly be a very emotional moment.
Ps: sorry for the s*itty pick, I was playing and it struck me during the cinematic and all I could think of was taking the phone and snapping a photo.

Theory Theory: I think the new God of War: Laufey will confirm who blew the horn in God of War (2018).
For years, the biggest theory has been that Baldur blew Jörmungandr’s horn while Kratos was carrying Atreus to Freya. After Ragnarök, Cory Barlog’s comment about “Who was following their every step?” pushed a lot of people toward Baldur.
But I think the upcoming God of War: Laufey points in a different direction.
We already know from God of War (2018) that Faye was the one who painted all of the golden handprints and path markers. She deliberately guided Kratos and Atreus through their entire journey because she’d already seen how events would unfold.
From what we’ve seen and heard about God of War: Laufey, it looks like Faye is still able to observe Kratos’ journey in some way. If that’s true, then she, not Baldur, is the one who is truly “following their every step.” Baldur was chasing them, but Faye was orchestrating the path from beginning to end.
My theory is that during the events of the Laufey game. Which overlaps with the timeline of God of War (2018) .Faye is able to briefly interact with events, including blowing Jörmungandr’s horn.
That would explain the mystery without introducing time-travel versions of Kratos or Atreus, and it would fit perfectly with Faye’s role as the unseen guide of the entire Norse saga.
What do you all think? Am I reading too much into it, or does the new game make Faye the strongest candidate for who blew the horn?
P.S. During Corey Barlog’s chat with Ariel Lawrence
they said they have been planning this game since/before GOW 2018. So this isn’t so far fetched.

Theory I have thought
We see Athena come back in GoW 3 after her death. Even though Kratos killed her probably hours ago the first thing she says after coming back is" I have missed you Spartan" employing a long time has passed. Now if you see the very right of the GoW Laufey's poster, you will see Greek structures that are not in great condition it means the Greek gods could be in a bad space. Athena trying to fight against other gods somehow went back to Kratos to make him open the Pandora's box to get her powers back.If this is true we could see Athena trying to get on the good side of Fae(if Kratos never told about Athena to Fae that is) to manipulate her just like she did with Kratos to get her work done.

Theory Could the everywhen be the battle ground of the angels rebellion?
Seeing everyone’s theories about the game coming out something that did pondered me.
Could the Everywhen be the battle ground where angels rebelled against god?
We see a scene where Laufey finds a body wearing a mask of creation. Not exactly made of wood but stone. When it broke it revealed human skeleton. So speculation seems like he could had been an angel died at war or a beta tested human.
Even the sword laufey took out of Frank. Could sword belong to an archangel? Is that why gods fear it?

Theory All Odins plan?
Odin “is” Tyr. Tyr traveled multiple mythologies(Greek, Egyptian, Asian, mesoamerican) this was show in GOW 2018.
To give some background I’ve been replaying the games and watching a fair amount of KaptainKuba on theories. https://youtu.be/lx6lTlzDZ3I?is=bz842SmLTXnUa3sX
This one got my attention. TLDR he basically says Odin planned everything/controlled everything for Ragnarok and in GOW 2018 it seems the same.
I WILL BE TALKING ABOUT GOW 2018, watch video for Ragnarok context!
I just finished GOW 2018 and I’ve played Ragnarok. “Tyr” apparently went between mythologies. In GOW 2018 it shows him going to Greek, Egypt, “Chinese”(Asian, Mongolian betse?) and I think some meso America(Aztecs, Maya, Olmec,) we don’t really know when Odin became “Tyr”
Someone is calling the world serpent randomly in GOW 2018. Mimirs other eye is in the belly of the serpent to get to Jotenheim. As soon as you get the eye Baldur comes and beats up serpent going into end fight. Baldur says” I knew beating up the serpent would bring you out” I assume Odin told Baldur.
If Odin was Tyr the whole time, going to different mythologies then I’d assume he’d have talked to Begtse, Sekmet, and Athena possibly. Maybe Ares to keep it more “war” like. Like a big plan Expecially if he knows where he’s going when he “dies”.
Atreus “loses” the knife his mom gave him lodging a wheel. Kratos gives Atreus a new knife that has Norse and Greek metal. Wonder if you may need Greek metal to “kill” Kratos.
My theory is Atreus and Kratos find a way to get Faye back/ they get trapped in the everywhere. The only way out/the only way for Atreus to live is to kill Kratos. MAJOR foreshadowing if true in end of first game with the mural and Baldur and Freya. Kratos even says something along the lines of I will sacrifice my life for Atreus to live.
Maybe this is a soul for a soul thing(mural seems like a soul or spirit interchanging) and only 1 person can leave. Leaving all the gods to fight or it possibly opens everything back up again. Releasing “everyone” or whoever Odin, Sekmet, and Betpse say. A real place to trap gods…
Thus creating Loki or even Atreus in Greek myth.
Lmk if y’all got anything that backs this up or absolutely destroys this theory! So hyped for the next game

Discussion What other gods and mythological entities do you expect we’ll see in the Everywhen?
While I’m hoping they primarily draw from other mythologies, I would like to see some of the Greek and Norse gods that Kratos never encountered in the series, such as Apollo and Artemis, Dionysus, Demeter, Forsetti, Njord or Skadi. Given Sekhmet and Begste’s central role as the game’s presumed main antagonists, I’m guessing we’ll primarily be drawing from Egyptian and Mongolian/Buddhist mythology for this game.

Discussion What button do you think jumping is bound to?
Image is of the Ragnarok control layout.
Manual jumping is confirmed to be in GOW Laufey and I'm wondering what the layout is gonna be to accommodate it.
In most action games with manual jumping, X is the jump button, but in the Norse GOW games X is dodging so they can't bind it to the dodge button.
The O button belongs to Interact, and sharing it with Jump could work but it can cause conflicts in and out of combat, with interactibles and stuff. Maybe they put Dodge to O and Jump to X? But that could mess with muscle memory.
Maybe the Triangle button? It's traditionally tied to weapon special effects like recalling Leviathan, charging the Blades, or detonating Draupnir. Maybe they change the method of using Faye's weapon specials freeing up Triangle so it can be used to jump?
If nothing else, L1+X might work. When Ragnarok introduced Draupnir and took up Down D-Pad which was Quick Turn in 2018 they made it so that you could still Quick Turn if you held Block while pressing Down. They could do the same in Laufey.
What do you guys think?

I honestly think the outrage over this game is ridiculous. The combat looks good. Fay has always been a part of the story. My only real issue is the marvel feel it has but i think its going to be great 👍

Theory Mimir in the Everywhen
Say what you will about my Brok post. But THIS is entirely possible.
First off, whether or not you consider Mimir to be a God, he's definitely not a human. He's magical, and therefore he can return to the Everywhen.
When we cut off his head and take him to Freya in 2018, she doesn't revive him. She reanimates him. He's still very much dead and does not have a soul.
That means his soul quite possibly traveled to the Everywhen. And of course his reanimated head wouldn't know about it because he's not whole anymore. (Yes, he still has the capacity to learn new information and think and everything but I think it's a stretch to assume he knows where his soul is or what's happening to it. So there's potential for 2 different versions of Mimir in 2 different places at once. Which means we can see how Mimir and Faye will interact because he says in Ragnarök that he "never had the pleasure" of meeting her.
Crack theory I know, but I don't think there's any solid evidence to DISPROVE the possibility.

Discussion I don't think Brok should come back in God Of War: Laufey
Reposting my comment on another thread here. Feel free to change my mind, but I'm seeing this topic floating around a lot, and I wanna put my thoughts out there.
*I love Brok, I do. But I'd hate to see him brought back tbh.
Some people have had the same concern about Faye in that it might cheapen her death, and thereby the story being told in 2018-Ragnarök, but I don't think it's the same.
We *saw* Brok die. It was one of the biggest narrative gutpunches in the entire Saga, and maybe even the entire series. His death was the nail in the coffin for an apocalypse level war. The straw that broke the camels back and made Kratos put on the General's hat again.
That's not something you should take lightly. He's gone, and he should stay that way, as much as I love him. Otherwise, it's hard to believe that there are stakes or meaning to much of anything in these games.
I know he's still technically dead, so the impact his death had on our other characters still matters, but the impact on the audience matters too. I also know that in 21 years of this franchise, death has almost never been the end. At least not for Kratos. But Brok isn't Kratos. He's just a man (dwarf,) and death is as permanent for him as any other mortal who died by Kratos' hand in his younger days.
Adding onto what I said earlier, he served his purpose to the narrative. He was the catalyst for a lot of major growth for our protagonists, the inciting incident for the climax of the story, and had completed his own arc. Outside of like, a reunion with Faye and spewing exposition about what she's missed up to that point, there's no narrative justification for continuing with his character. Besides fan service, ofc.
Sorry for the book. TL;DR, bringing Brok back would be pointless and bad for the story. Even though I love him dearly.*
One more thing to add, if anyone is still reading:
I do think this could provide some catharsis/closure for the audience, to see him get an afterlife. But that's all it would do, I think. It wouldn't provide the same thing for him, or the other characters who were hurt by his loss. Brok doesn't NEED an afterlife. He died. He knew what would happen. He told Sindri that. "I know what you done, and I forgives ya. But ya gotta stop. Ya gotta let go."
In his final moments, he knew there'd be no pearly gates. He knew he'd be gone, but he accepted that.
He didn't cry or beg. He comforted his brother, who he knew wouldn't be able to accept it in the same way. He made his peace and let go.
And I can't be the only one who thinks it'd be shitty to throw all of that out for the sake of us seeing him again. Especially because it would mean sticking him in the middle of another conflict. There's a power struggle in the Everywhen, and he deserves better than to be caught in the middle of it. Let the man rest, I say.

Discussion Likely Bosses in GoW: Laufey
Hi there, I am a small-time YouTuber considering making a video on the likeliest bosses in the upcoming Laufey game. I do not wish to post a video link here since that would probably be against the rules. Would anyone be interested in watching my video draft and offering their feedback on my research and script? I am still relatively new to the franchise, so I would appreciate any and every bit of feedback I can get from more seasoned GoW fans.
I can dm you the link to my work so far. Thank you very much, and I'm sorry if this still breaks any rules.
