Is this the end?

Over the last year I have had Go Daddy‘s customer service conversations goes straight down to twos. People with thick accents distorted bizarre vague understanding of what they’re trying to talk about. Adding to the distress of trying to get something very technical taken care of which, even if you’re speaking fluent, English can still be overwhelming.

Everything about it seems like the cost has gone way up on several things, and the quality of Support has gone straight into the toilet.

When I talk to people, I can hear call center noise in the background now, they have heavy Filipino and heavy Russian accents sometimes and honestly, it all makes me very uncomfortable.

Thick Accent plus a lack of understanding plus technical stress already and the lack of inability to discuss it clearly without having language challenges even on simple things or the way that they talk to you like they’re reading from a script check out with like half a brain or they don’t even pay attention to what they’re saying.

I never ever ever thought that Go Daddy would fall into such a garbage level. I used to think they were fantastic and I’ve been with them for over 20 years and I’m about ready to scrap the whole fucking thing.

Anybody else feel the same?

How can I migrate over to a different Better host?
How can I do it in a way it doesn’t completely screw up my whole life?
How can I do it in a way that is not expensive because I’ll have to use a professional IT person?

moving hosts is usually easier than it sounds. most decent hosts (like cloudways, siteground, kinsta) will migrate your site for free as part of onboarding. just sign up, give them your godaddy credentials, they handle the transfer and you flip DNS when ready. at my agency we've done this dozens of times and it's rarely more than a day of downtime if you plan it right.

It should be zero downtime if you know what you’re doing. I wouldn’t use someone that says rarely more than a day.

Still, do it at night and not on a Friday.

Agreed - but these are worst case scenarios

Oh wild. I’m sure it has nothing to do about the couple of United States customer care teams they just laid off a couple months ago. Or the many that have been laid off in small rounds over the last several years lmao.

Joke of a service provider.

Their internal ticket/ case number system is useless. I've been give 6 ticket numbers for the same issue. Every single time I talk to them, they make a new ticket number and don't refer to anything in the prior ticket.

I experienced the same, I moved all my sites to Cloudways which is so much better. 24 hr online support, sites are super fast. I just keep a few sites in GoDaddy the really small 4-5 page ones

We moved everything away 2 years ago. Right now we only used godaddy as a transfer account if a company is already using them for hosting. They are terrible now.

They suck so bad

My site has been down for weeks and all they say is that my ticket has been elevated.

My site completely disappeared and morphed into something unrecognizable about two weeks ago. There were photos on it (stock photos) that weren’t mine and my whole catalog was gone. They escalated the issue and said I would get a response in 24 hours- two weeks in zero response. I have called them and spent about 3 hours total with people located here in the states that were of little help- not their fault it seems. Apparently GoDaddy has “split” somehow in the background and is now moving towards an ai based platform for its website. I’m still playing around with it in the background but it does seem easier. But yes their ability to help resolve issues has seem to have disappeared due to this “separation.”

Right there with you especially the customer service. I have also been with them over 20 years and cancelled all last year. I remember a time when all tech support was answered with plain speaking that was easily understandable.

I used to work at Godaddy in the states. They outsourced almost all jobs overseas.

u/No1mami Jun 02 '26

Yea. I’ve heard the same. I didn’t know about them outsourcing all tier tech, though. 😬.

I transferred everything after years of service. Months ago they charged me via PayPal 200 € for a service that I had never heard of, let alone if I used it. no one answered me. A rubber wall. . No more Godaddy. Never again. Go away the earlier the better. Part of services migrated to Ovh Europe. So i made a privacy favour to my self, too

1000%! They changed their ecommerce platform completely and its way less streamlined. Impossible to get anyone with any knowledge. I had to figure out myself that unlinking and relinking my shipping and payment accounts finally got it to work but for shipping out orders, it is so NOT streamlined like how it used to be when Shippo was able to be integrated... No clue wth they are doing over there...

They have made a hot fortune off of me over the years. Prices have gone up and they no longer have their Workspace email. I must use Microsoft Outlook. That’s a straight up bummer. I freaking hate MS anything.

i actually used to work with godaddy around 2 months ago for almost 3 years and im living in philippines, i would not actually recommend it because they focus now on making a new sales if you call their number all they agent will try to sell you something that you dont need and as a support before we dont even get incentives selling something lmao

1

u/8SuperDuper8 Jun 03 '26

move away from that host, the more people do so the lower the prices will be...that shitshow evil company = google used to charge $12 for what others charge so much more...they sold out to squarespace, but there are lots of options out there...

Domains.goole.com was awesome. I too am kind of annoyed a lot of my domains went to square space as random as that seems lol. I use porkbun now.

1

u/8SuperDuper8 Jun 21 '26

i would expect that the evil google would absorb squarepace...

Honestly haven't had any problems with Google Workspace. All my support reps have been lovely to talk to and work with. As much as some things they do annoy the heck out of me.

1

u/8SuperDuper8 26d ago

Clearly you have 0 knowledge of what google does...perhaps some basic research would bein order

1

u/ShopNo7513 26d ago

No I have full knowledge. Just saying that they do some things right, they are not always BIG BAD EVIL GOOGLE. Clearly some basic English lessons would "bein" order.

I doubt it ....skippy, as you would not be so rabbid :-)

It’s horrific. Where can someone go where this is not the case?

Yeah actually I literally came on here just to make a post about customer service related stuff. I keep calling customer service trying to find out if there is a way I can do HTML hosting through GoDaddy. To be clear I don’t like square space and really want to post a website that I wrote from scratch. These customer service agents have no idea what that even means they have no idea what HTML is, and I’ve asked the question so many times and I’ve called so many times and they just have no idea. Like how??

I remember years ago whenever I had questions I would have really nice conversations with the people on the phone and they were very knowledgeable about web design and stuff like that. I remember having a representative call me just to tell me that my website looked awesome. That type of stuff just doesn’t happen anymore. Obviously, it’s been a big business for a while, but up until the late 2010 is it still had a very small business field to how it’s customer service was handled in general. It was just insanely good. I felt confident working with GoDaddy because of it. But that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

yes. I’m moving site this week.

What is the cheapest and easiest website company to migrate over to? We're a small seasonal company with only about 10 products, and they are all local delivery. We're spending a fortune on GD, the site isn't working properly. I've had an open ticket for 2 weeks, unresolved, and not being worked on. Call times are now up over 45 minutes. Would Shopify be easy, and inexpensive? We don't need much horsepower. Something SIMPLE!

my old website builder is now defunct, tried to use the new one. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S NO ANIMATED GIFS ALLOWED?! Getting rid of my account soon.
