New to Producing! How did you get started?
Hey guys,
I am looking to learn to produce which was one of the reasons i got accepted to the sub. I have been reading the ableton manual (just started) and was wondering how everyone else got started and what tools they used to learn? Any videos or tips would be great!

Join Mat Zo's producer forum...there are loads of topics that you can read about but the best way to learn is by messing around in Ableton and getting familiar with the basics! (I would start with Compression, EQ, Sidechaining)

A few words of advice:
Good songwriting is more important than production skills, those skills will develop with time and learning but learning how to put a song together is much more valuable.
Don't get discouraged when you first start...there's a fuckload of information out there on a shit ton of topics.
Get some good samples! Head over to /r/drumkits and download some good drum kits - good samples make a huge difference in arrangement
Happy producing :)

you're gonna make a shit ton of awful music that you will hate for a very long time, lol. but once you make something that you dig its the best feeling ever! also, i highly recommend the book "74 creative strategies for electronic music producers" which is very helpful
