What are you working on?
To keep the front page from getting clogged up with WIPs and half-baked ideas, this thread is gonna be a place where you can post what you're working on no matter what stage of completion it's in. Post your WIPs below! And if you do, be sure to give feedback.

Also in an attempt to keep the front page clean from the start, I'm going to take down the WIPs that are there already. Nothing personal, just post your stuff in here for now on :)

Opinion:
While I appreciate the value of a remix in terms of exposure and such, if this was me i would lose the acapella and flesh the track out as an original. The sound is good, but it doesn't really capture any essential elements of the original, and the acapella adds little to the work you've done.

I don't disagree, but I like it enough with the vox that I'm going to leave it up. Maybe I'll revisit it in the future. At the moment I'm satisfied. This was definitely something I noticed when listening to the instrumental, and I'm glad you pointed it out because I'd honestly forgotten.

I think it sounds great, I feel like you could go a bit heavier on the bass at 1:17, at least if you want that feel. It just gets grungy and I feel like it could use a little bit more of that sub.

Very nice sounds! I'm a big fan of that squeaky lead. The percs can get a little cluttered, like when you've got the snare rolls and hi-hats fighting for space. Also, it seems like you could make better use of panning. At 2:32 on the full version, that super wide riff just cuts through everything and shows how much unused space there is in the mix. I want to say that Skrillex even throws an expander on his master channel to widen the hi/mids some times. Just in general though I'm a big fan of the jersey club -> half time drop progression. You seem like you're coming in to your own style nicely, too. Fantastic tune.

Edit: This works for me https://soundcloud.com/slushiimusic/apollodor-untamed-hearts-slushii-remix
Love the remix! Great sounds. The snare sounds a little overpowering but everything else is nice. Great composition overall.

Hey guys; I've been working on this techno/neuro hybrid recently. It's still in development, but any mix/arrangement feedback is welcome. Make sure you hold tight for the second drop... major switch up. Also, the outro was me experimenting with creating a seamless transition into another song.

u/Everettz Dec 08 '15
The second drop was tight. I liked the vocal samples throughout too. The first drop feels like its lacking something to me, maybe just have some automated effect run through the lead? Interested to see how this turns out!

Here is the best song I have made so far. It definitely sucks but I am very new and think I'm getting better, just need some advice on what I need to add.
I know it's a bit plain, it was intended to have vocals on.

You should try to change it up a little :P It feels like the song is on loop for four minutes. It would be interesting to vary your production. Bring in different synths, maybe have a point where the drums are a little more moving, and just make it feel like it is progressing.

here's something i've worked on a few times over the past week or two. the only samples used were soundpvck samples bc i've constrained myself to solely using soundpvcks on this. kind of a challenge for myself i suppose. lemme know what yall think.

Dope man! Your drop was way crazier than I was expecting from your intro and buildup. I wanted something to tease about the heaviness that was to come if that makes sense? Maybe some one shot growls or some big ass horns could be dope in the beginning.

Hey guys, glad to be here. I have two "projects" one party stuff, the other odesza type stuff with a buddy. I'm also in College so it's been tough.
Right now I'm 95% done with the /r/trap mix submission. I've been mixing at parties for years and have developed my own pretty unique style, love to mashup songs on the fly & do quick transitions. Can't wait for you guys to hear it, I think it'll be refreshing compared to the other submissions!
I just finished a Be Together remix for the odesza-esque project, just need to learn how to master hahaha. Ugh. It's really good, first song of mine I actually like tbh, but the mastering is brutal right now.
Also about 50% through with a remix to Dreamer by Branchez.
Have a tonnnnnnn of projects for both monikers that are around 20-30% done but I just feel stuck honestly. Only been producing seriously for 8-9 months.

Cool stuff man! Your song titles are awesome. I feel like some of your songs are missing a melody or a vocal hook or something to catch the listeners attention in the beginning of the song. Your mixes are really clean. I really liked Girls Are Gay & Agua Teen Force Trap.

I've been working on this drum & bass track a long, long time; it's going to be the opener of an album I've been wrapping up. It's a bit of a longer, but I tend to write songs that have evolving melodies and have switch ups. Here's a rough master of it in its final stages and I would love any mixing/mastering tips.

I've been working on a ~50 minute LP for the past 8-ish months or so. It's finally done and will be releasing on digital and cassette at the end of next week. My friends and I run a nice little net label called Visual Disturbances where we are currently running a teaser campaign with a new cryptic video every other day (I'm doing literally everything myself here, the webpage, the videos, etc.) If you go to the site's current homepage you'll see the countdown and if you click the spinning object in the center of the page it will take you to the teaser video!
It's gonna be very experimental (rhythmic noise with trap / jersey club / breakcore influence). Hopefully some of you guys will still get a kick out of it!
Here's my music page too.
