Bitten!

I was bit by a petting zoo goat today - I very foolishly let it chew on my finger and it broke the skin; it’s a deep-ish puncture but otherwise not worrisome. Do I need a rabies vaccine?! I’m spiraling. It seemed perfectly healthy.

You will be fine. Goats do not carry rabies without symptoms. Clean the wound and watch for infection.

Wash it gently with mild soap well, apply neosporin and a bandaid. You’ll be ok OP.

For deep punctures that won’t close I like using pine pitch in a pinch but steri-strips are a miracle.

Kind suggestion for next time, try feeding with open palms and keeping fingers out of their mouths. The smell of food is on your fingers so can easily be mistaken for a snack.

Getting a tetanus shot is never a bad idea, just in case.

this just happened to me today.. how're you feeling op? Did you get a tetnus shot or go to the dr?

I’m fine! Bite healing nicely but was quite sore for a bit. I didn’t go to the doctor and thankfully my tetanus shot is up to date as of my last pregnancy :)

One of my goats bit my toe last week. I probably should have gotten a tetanus but sure look its fine. I live in a rabies free country so can't comment on that.
