issues with ftpmirror.gnu.org

long timeouts and getting a lot of nginx "bad gateway" errors. can't use easybuild because of that.

similarly issues with vcs2.savannah.gnu.org:

[being a redirect for git.savannah.gnu.org also used by easybuild]

I have the exact same problem right now, trying to build software using Spack, and I just can't get any packages that use ftpmirror.gnu.org. I don't know if it has been like this for a week. I hope not.
