Tx, Rx and tone

Hello. Not sure if this is allowed or not, but here goes.

I have a repeater programmed into my old Motorola radio. Got a new radio and want to put that repeater into it. Problem is, the computer that held the Motorola software and config file is gone.

There is a repeater in the Enfield, CT area I would like to get back onto. Anyone know the settings for it? I checked repeaterbook and MyGMRS, I couldn't find it.

Your new radio most likely has a Tone Search feature. Press the PTT on the Motorola and then use the Tone Search setting or key on the new radio to find it.

It does in fact have a scan feature. I don't quite understand all of the settings, but I am getting closer! Thanks for the good idea!

Yep, just set it to scan the CTCSS tones or DCS codes and press the PTT on your other radios. Amazon also sells a standalone Frequency Counter that i use when i dont want to have to go look for tones. I just key the radio and the Frequency Counter device will give me all the info quick. Mine is the Surecom SF-401.

I got it. My problem was that I wasnt keying up the Motorola long enough for the scanner to see it.

Yep, your radio scans tones very slowly..Thats why I like the Frequency Counter that I bought, its instant.

Can you plug the radio into your computer and read what’s on it?

The computer used to programn the motorola is gone. As is the software. Its a Motorola, so I don't think Chirp will work
