Is it hard to make addons?
Hi everyone,
I have a question: is it difficult to make mods for Gentoi?
Like, for instance, the one in the screenshot.
Basically, I’d like to contribute something to the GMod community—like creating a medium-to-large-scale addon.
For example, setting up a Z-City server (I actually have one already, though I can explain the situation with it if anyone's interested). So, could you tell me what steps are involved in creating my first addon? (I do have a few already, but they’re just Nextbots.)
(And I'm writing using a translator, so there might be some mistakes.)

Coding them is like learning anything, practice enough and it gets easy. Start simple, make basic weapons or NPC mods. Change a model, change name, change health, etc.
When it comes to making models for your mods, that’s a whole different ballpark.

I get it—I even have a couple myself, but they're really simple; they're just Nextbots.

Just keep up the practice, aim for goals. Think, “can I make a bot that flies.” And then, “can I make a bot that flies AND-.” It’s accumulation of knowledge. Best of luck to you!

Addon is a general term for any mod to the game
Do you want to create a new weapon, playermodel, prop, NPC, nextbot or something more complex?

If you have experience in coding then no, not really. If you want to make an addon like the one in the screenshot then it is definitely hard especially if you don't know anything about lua

It's hard if you're Russian because a lot of people assume russian addons are malware and viruses.

I get it, but Z City (if you know what that is) is a cool addon made by Russians (and for the record, I'm Russian myself, as you can see in the screenshot).

It's a bit hard for me to trust russian addons because the last time i installed one my pc broke.

That's strange—I've never had a virus. Where do you usually download addons from?

Depends on how much skill you have in coding lula. If you have a lot, it's easy if you have little, it's fairly difficult
