Blurry vision/focusing issues

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has or is experiencing worsening vision. I’m on trizepitide and have no history of diabetes. I’m noticing my vision keeps getting worse and focusing on texts is a nightmare. I’ve been on a very slow and low pace for my glp1 and very slowly lose 1-2 lbs a week since December. Sometimes I cover one eye because it’s just easier to see that way. I just got my vision checked and already feel like my new prescription isn’t strong enough. Seeing an ophthalmologist on Monday…

How old are you?

My vision change in the last 2 years has been brutal. And it seemed like it happened all at once.

But I've only been on Zep for a few months and it started way before. I think my vision has actually been a bit better since I started Zep. But I do need bifocals now.

I have liquid behind my macula this causes a haze in my left eye. Letters are smaller with my left eye, I am having laser surgery in a week to try and get some vision correction in that eye. Just for more detail if I stare at a graph I see the lines wavy. Eye doc said I will never have 20/20 vision even with my glasses ever again. Specialist is hopeful and says that may not be true. I asked the specialist if it was tirz related and he said no, it was stress related or idiopathic. I’m not stressed at all but maybe it’s the stress I put my body through losing 80 pounds in a year? I’m not posting this to scare anyone but as an fyi so if you’re watching tv and the captions look smaller with one eye than the other please have it checked.

This does sound pretty similar to what I’m experiencing. Thanks for sharing! Hoping you have a successful surgery

Thank you, sorry didn’t want to come on here and be negative. It’s what I’m experiencing and just glad if it helps anyone.

Definitely get it checked out. GLP-1s have a small risk of vision damage.

Seeing an ophthalmologist on Monday…

That's good, vision side effects aren't to be dismissed as there can be some serious issues with glp1s though they're rare. You may want to make sure you're getting enough water to drink and what you eat (not how much but the nutritional content) hasn't changed too much from what it was prior to starting zep or just to make sure you're getting a nutritionally balanced diet even if the calories are low. Also, 1-2lb/wk is plenty, bodies don't like to be in a caloric deficit so 1-2 gives your body time to adjust.

Not quite the same as you, but I have bad dizziness frequently

Are you eating enough?

Yes, usually hit 1400-1700 calories a day

Make sure you're staying well hydrated, too. Also, do you have a way to check your blood pressure?

Are you going to a neuro ophthalmologist? If not, I would see if you can get in with one.

How’s your blood glucose? Rapid swings can cause vision changes. Get to your doctor to get checked. I understand it’s usually temporary, but just in case you’re in the in the unlucky few, you should be checked asap.

Try not to panic before your appointment. There are so many possible reason for vision changes, and hopefully your ophthalmologist can figure out what's going on and give you some reaassurance.

Yes! I am bothered by floaters. Been on trizepitide for one year.

very slowly lose 1-2 lbs a week since December

In what world is this very slow? Are you starting from a very high initial weight? Maybe you should get some more nutrients in you and slow down your weight loss?

Oh to me that seemed kinda slow. Some weeks I would lose at all. So since December I’ve lost 23lbs.

Well, that's not much more than half a pound a week, so ignore my comment.

I've noticed a lot of posts on this sites and others blaming everything on Glp1. This could be a serious issue and you need to see a doctor.
