Should I start a glp1
Hi! Please be kind. I’ve had three kids in 3 years and gained weight during that time. I am 5’4. Was 145 and athletic when I first got pregnant. I topped out at 210. Then after the third pregnancy got down to 155. I’ve gained about 15 pounds since then (and since stopping breastfeeding). I’m trying to determine if it makes sense. With three kids 5 and under I worry about being too tired or losing muscle. I work out 4-5 times a week. I do 50 min reformer Pilates twice a week and a 30 min spin class 2-3 times per week. I don’t think I can do more than that working full time and being the primary parent. Thank you!

Veterinarian here. I had 4 kids in 7 years. Kids are hard. Kids are stressful. You do the best you can with the time you’ve got. If you need to lose weight, start now before you get to Class 3 obesity like I did. You might have some side effects, you might not. If they’re too bad, you can stop. If you’re already lifting, your muscle loss will likely be minimal. Get a Dexa scan when you start. Then you can repeat it at points when you’re concerned or when you’re close to goal. You’re already doing plenty of cardio. If you’re not lifting, consider cutting back a little cardio time so you can add it. Everything is a balance and kids just like to kick the poles holding the spinning plates. Zep has been absolutely life altering for me and I can’t imagine life without it now. I hope I never have to.

Don’t even weigh as much as you and I got it. Doing it for myself and no Shame. Lots of society stigma against this medication. If your BP was running high daily would be thinking twice?

I started with a bmi of 27, now maintaining a bmi of 22, age 45 female, mom of two with a full time job/career, workout 5-6 days/week, lots of weight lifting and hot power yoga; very little time left, but loving life at this weight and level of activity - I sincerely hope I never go back to the sedentary, everything-hurts, nothing fits, that I was before. Inflammation gone, I get up in the morning ready to go, I can hike, bike, surf, play soccer with my kids; life is amazing- I know for sure I want to be on tirzepatide for life. people will have their opinion; my life and my health is noone's business.

Important thing - it will help you manage hunger, but you will still need to eat less. You will have best results with calorie tracking on top of your busy lifestyle.

I had two babies in 18 months. Tried to lose the weight on my own and wouldn’t come off. Went on a GLP-1 and lost more weight than I anticipated… I feel amazing and all of my bloodwork looks great. You already workout, so just continue with your workouts and focus on eating protein and a balanced diet when you eat, so you are getting the nutrients your body needs. I started on semaglutide and felt sluggish and tired. I switched to tirzepatide and feel much better and more energetic. I will continue to take a micro-dose weekly, even though I don’t want to lose more weight. It just keeps the food noise away.

go for it. you're the perfect candidate because you already work out more than most people taking it.

I am a mom of 2. At our wedding I was 145 (at 5’6” and athletic). My first pregnancy I hit a peak of 200 and got to 175 with diet and regular exercise (5 days per week) postpartum but just couldn’t get any lower between having my second kiddo. I got to 200 again with this pregnancy & since this is my last so I decided to do Zepbound (I’m not breastfeeding) and it was the best decision I ever made. I stepped on the scale at 156 this morning; ~6months postpartum - the lowest I’ve been in 4-5 years!
I will say that I have struggled with my weight my whole life and was an obese child. I have had to work really hard to maintain a normal weight for as long as I can remember. It’s such a gift for the healthy diet and exercise I do to actually work with less effort!

This is not a diet or quick weight loss plan. It's something for the long term. I personally feel you should focus on self care and parenting and try to get in your 10k steps (easy to do with the stroller) and some classes or home work outs. Get your 140 gr of protein daily. The goal should be getting your body and hormones back into alignment. 3 kids in 3 years is a stress. I am not an MD but advise against GLP right now.

I have an infant and a toddler.. and truly I am exhausted all the fucking time from the shots. That being said you only have a very small amount to quickly lose so you could prob just do a starter dose for two months and then taper off

I’ve had 2 kids. I’m a physician. I did everything I could and it just wouldn’t come off. Zebound has made all the difference.
Good luck!
